2008 Hyundai Tiburon - 2008 Hyundai Tiburon Review with Caveats
The Hyundai Tiburon I bought was the first car I had bought at a dealer, and I was very impressed with the Hyundai 60,000 Used Vehicle warranty as well as the helpfulness of the service department at Hyundai. It was a beautiful looking vehicle, and I particularly liked the hatchback. Unlike many people however, I prefer a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. These are the only complaints I have about that car, other than the fact the V6 was not particularly economical on gas. The Tiburon did have a way to shift the automatic transmission manually, but I found it causes me to go overboard and waste gas. I also do not like the understeer of front wheel drive cars, but that is a personal preference.
Story
I was very ill, driving back from the Cleveland Clinic outside of Miami, and stopped in Flagler Beach. I had been quite delirious, and pulled over on the side of the road on the wrong side of a sign that indicated no parking (Lyme disease). The police came and questioned me, and were completely confused by me. They seemed to suspect that I had stolen the car or was out of my mind. I was in ver... (more)
Pros
It was a beautiful looking vehicle, was small and fairly agile, had a great hatchback, fog lights, and most importantly, the Hyundai warranty and a great local service department. Hyundai seems determined to make sure I was a repeat buyer.
Cons
I attracted the attention of the police because I sat so low in this vehicle, and it was so sporty looking they were curious about me. I was stopped several times and asked if I owned it; I think they thought Grandma stole the sports car. I traded it in for the following model (Genesis Coupe 2.0 R/Spec) with the features I wanted (six-speed manual, racing suspension, turbocharged 2,0 liter, bright red, rear wheel drive), and I haven't been stopped once. I was followed home the day I bought it, and it seems the car is 'known'. I guess the biggest problem with the Tiburon was that it was nav... (more)
2008 Hyundai Tiburon - Sleek and Reliable
Overall, this vehicle performs better than another car I had previously owned. It's reliable and only needs maintenance when it's a routine deal. I love that it gives me a nice, sporty look without the cost of buying a luxury sports car. Also, it flies through the streets which makes the name of the car fitting because Tiburon is actually "shark" in Spanish.
Story
One specific story would be teaching my little brother how to drive my car. It's automatic, so it wasn't difficult but thankfully it was only us in the parking lot because he was hitting the gas like there was no tomorrow!
Pros
The best thing about my Tiburon is that it's reliable and durable. It lasts through the 120 degree heat and colder winters. My favorite feature though, would have to be the bucket seating. I mostly drive alone, but the bucket seat keeps my purse, CDs, and food from sliding off of the seat onto the floor. I also enjoy the hatchback trunk. It gives the trunk a lot more space than others would anticipate.
Cons
I can't think of many cons for this vehicle aside from the height. While sometimes it's a pro, it's often times a con because it's difficult to see around larger vehicles and to see highway signs when I'm driving. That can be a little dangerous, but I'm almost certain higher tires would help. Also the interior is fairly small, so anyone over 6 ft have a really hard time fitting inside.
