2003 Hyundai Tiburon - All around good car.
This is one of the best cars I've ever owned, driven, or ridden in. Everything about it is just plain good: The steering is tight, it accelerates well, the brakes are responsive, the ride is smooth without completely disconnecting you from the feel of the road, and all the parts on the car have lasted a long time. The only problems I've had are the radio not working right anymore, a couple of the speakers have worn out, the clear coat is peeling -- all things that are easy to fix -- and the clutch wore out. After 15 years, those kinds of things happening is completely normal for a car, and the Tiburon has been far easier to work on than other cars I've worked on in the past.
Story
I don't have any specific stories involving my car, I just know that some of the most fun, relaxed times I've had in my life have been driving between home and college back in the day with the windows rolled down and the radio turned up.
Pros
Easy to work on. Having to take off plastic covers that don't seem to serve a purpose is annoying, and there are similar places where something unrelated has to be removed to get to the part you need to replace or fix, but it's like the car was designed to be worked on. It's easy to remove things to get to the other things, there aren't a bunch of really tight spaces you have to get a wrench or something into like on other vehicles, and it makes sense just from looking at it. It's really fun to drive. It's held up very well over the years. Everything in it is really good quality, despite n... (more)
Cons
The pillars just beside the driver and front passenger seats are annoying and can make it hard to see and take some getting used to. It's front wheel drive, which isn't my preference, but it's not a major detriment.
2003 Hyundai Tiburon - Solid for price
The car is decent build quality. It has no rattles but the overall build is cheaper since it did not cost very much. The center of gravity is very low; there is decent room in the cabin too. Back seats offer very little for passengers as you have to basically have no legs to fit. Trunk space is surprisingly large for such a small vehicle. All console controls are plastic but nice to the touch. Default radio has no aux input nor Bluetooth capabilities. It performs really great. For such a small car (really lightweight), the acceleration is quite fast especially for the year and the brake time is above average. Turning can end up in under-steer for it is a front wheel drive car. Small steering wheel for a more movement based sports car. The manual version shifts are short throw and feel ... (more)
