2011 Hyundai Sonata - Quality Average 4-Door Sedan
I bought this car used from a Hyundai dealership. The price was low enough for me to afford to buy it outright. It's much better than my last car in that it has enough kick to accelerate past other cars to switch lanes easily. The look of the car itself is appealing to me. It looks very streamlined which is a much better look than its predecessor. I own this car in blue and, while I think its a nice color, I believe that silver or black would have brought out the detail in the body a bit better.
Story
I went on a road trip from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Gainesville and had a fun time listening to all my music on the way up and down.
Pros
It has great gas mileage in both the city and the highway. Moreover, it is a smooth ride and the inside of the car has a lot of room. I love the fact that I can plug in my USB drive and listen to music, and that it even came with a Sirius XM radio. When I bought this car it came with a great warranty, too - 10 years or 100,000 miles and the dealership will fix anything* bumper to bumper.
Cons
In reference to the power train warranty listed above, what the dealer doesn't tell you is that you only get half of that for everything in the car. Past 5 years or 50,000 miles, anything that goes wrong electronically with the car is repaired at your own expense. Sadly, I had to repair a fuse box in the car at full cost ($850) which nearly killed me as far as savings are concerned as I am in between jobs right now.
2010 Hyundai Sonata - Nice lines on sturdy vehicle
This car has the nicest lines of any car I've ever owned. When I see it in a parking lot, I admire the lines which are enhanced by silver trim. This car was in the showroom when I looked at it. It has polished wooden trim inside which makes it look very rich. It also has a sun roof which I really enjoy for most of the year. It is a four door which I like for passengers although the legroom is tight when the front seats are all the way back. I originally bought it because the front passenger seat had a lot of leg room. My brother is 6'4" and this sedan had the best legroom I saw when I was looking for a car that year.
Story
At the shopping center near my home you must consciously remember where you parked because there are hordes of other white cars parked there. I would get a different color next time!
Pros
The looks of the car are just great. It also gets good gas mileage. It was a smooth ride for about the first five years of ownership. I like that it has a fitted rubber floor for the trunk that you can just lift out to hose down. Also, the trunk itself is a really good size with back seats that can fold down to fit long things like a bass fiddle.
Cons
During the first 6 months of owning the car, the holder for sunglasses at the front top broke. I used it a lot but it shouldn't have broken that quickly. I had to duct tape it shut so it didn't just hang down awkwardly.
