2008 Hyundai Sonata - Great starter car for a teen/new driver
Overall, my 2008 Hyundai Sonata is a great starter car for a new driver. I bought her as a new vehicle back in 2008 when I first started driving, and compared to other cars I had tested out at the time, she was by far my favorite. She is agile (easily steerable, feels lightweight) but not overly-maneuverable that it feels like even turning the wheel an inch will veer the thing off road. She also gets great gas mileage, has little road noise, and a sporty shape. Nowadays, she still drives very well and gets the job done (taking me from school to home and vice versa); however, it lacks a lot of the cool upgrades that a lot of newer cars have, so I feel like I will be upgrading soon.
Story
I've taken a lot of spontaneous beach trips with my friends in this car, and it definitely has a lot of room for people, food, and drinks!
Pros
The biggest pro about driving the Sonata is its lightweight feel. As a new driver, I feel like its agility was the perfect level for my newfound skill. As a student on a budget, the gas mileage is great (I only have to hit the station once every two weeks). It is a wide-set car, so there is a lot of room for sporting equipment and friends (by a sedan's standards)!
Cons
The reason I am considering upgrading my car now is simply because the technology is outdated. The car still runs and gets me from point A to point B, but as it nears ten years old, it lacks a lot of the technology that a lot of newer cars have (moon roof, Bluetooth, seat warmers, general electronics, leather seats, etc.). Its design -- while it was sporty ten years ago -- is also looking a bit outdated, as well.
