The 2009 Hyundai Sonata is a graceful car. The lines are sleek, and the curves are pleasing to the eye. Inside, the interior is roomy. The trunk is deceptively large. The base finish is well equipped with many features standard that would be add-ons for other brands. In two years of driving, the car has no issues whatsoever. It runs smoothly, and the single issue I had (the starter stopped working) was promptly fixed under the generous five year/ 50,000 mile warranty.
Story
I initially thought the battery was dead when the charger failed. I called triple A, and they told me the battery was fine. I had no idea starters could go bad until I got it towed to the dealership, and they fixed it in a couple of days.
Pros
Bang for buck. The car is underpriced compared to the peer group (Camrys, Altima's, Accords, etc.) - you get a more for a bit less. This used to be even more stark in earlier Sonata models, but the improved reputation is slowly driving prices up. Aesthetic design - this is a BEAUTIFUL car. It holds its own against many luxury brands, and the flowing curves remind me of some of the Mercedes models.
Cons
The only minor negative I have is the driving is a bit dull. The suspension is comfortable, the pickup is a bit lagged, and the steering is soft. It's not for people who enjoy driving like race car drivers, but it is a very comfortable drive.

2004 Hyundai Sonata - My first car.

The Hyundai Sonata, as a whole, has been a great commuter car and has performed well as an A to B vehicle.
Story
My first camping trip with my girlfriend was very memorable, and my car performed well in the mountains of NC.
Pros
I bought it for around $3,000 with the money I had saved up working in college. It had around 130K miles on it and still ran very smoothly and looked in almost perfect condition, which is what led me to buy it. The power train on the car has been perfect and no problems there.
Cons
The car was used frequently up north, and I think it had some salt rust underneath the front end which eventually caused it to crack and need substantial repairs.
