2009 Hyundai Sonata - Best car for the money
I own a 2009 Hyundai Sonata that was purchased in 2010 with 34,000 miles. It now has over 168,000, still running and driving like a dream. The overall aesthetics are still appealing. I love how well the body has held up. I have the oil changed, the tires rotated, and the interior cleaned regularly and I think that is why it's in such nice shape. It's only 4 cylinder but can get out of the way of trucks on the highways and bad drivers on the turnpikes. I have had great luck with gas consumption being between 18 and 36 mpg.
Story
This car has the ability to make people open up and talk about themselves. I don't know if it's because it's a quiet ride or a comfortable one but secrets have been shared by many teenagers that normally would not speak to an adult. I miss driving around my daughter and her friends.
Pros
I love the style of the vehicle. It's a great size for transporting people and items. I've had many trips to the local home improvement stores and have never had a problem fitting oversized items into the trunk.
Cons
The radio. I had to buy an after market stereo because the original radio would turn on and off on its own and raise and lower the sound also. Hyundai dealership had no idea why it was doing that, and it was not covered under warranty. They wanted me to pay over $1,000 for a replacement. The seats have lost their firmness and everyone sits lower than we would like. I guess it's to be expected in a vehicle with 168,00 miles.
2004 Hyundai Sonata - How a throwaway car became a decade plus commuter vehicle!
Back in late 2003, I had moved far away from my job and it required me to drive upwards of 3 hours a day to and from my office. At the time I drove a Jeep and the gas mileage was horrible, so I knew it was time to get something a bit more fuel efficient.
So, I checked out all the vehicles available at the time and settled on the Hyundai Sonata. I wasn't particularly enamored with the car at the time of purchase, but it got decent gas mileage, it was big enough to fit 4 people comfortably (if that was needed) it had leather and was totally loaded for around $21k.
At the time, I was not very familiar with Hyundai other then I knew they built and sold cars that were value oriented (ie. cheap). I figured I'd keep the car for 2 or 3 years then trade it on something I actually wanted.... (more)
Story
My wife and I drove the Sonata (we call it the "Silver Bullet") down to Florida in one straight shot from New York (17 hours). It handled great and we were very comfortable the entire way!
Pros
VERY Reliable
Comfortable
Rides nice
Sturdy
Cons
Gas Mileage is not great for the V6
Trunk is a bit too small
