2001 Hyundai Santa Fe - Nothing but problems.
I loved this vehicle when I first got it. After about 2 weeks of paying on it I started having issues. First problem was I had my speed sensors go out which are not a cheap fix. So until I did get it fixed my car would jump and not shift. Then came the axles and the tie rods. They snapped as I was going down the interstate. I think they're very poorly built but the exterior is good. They're very expensive to fix and it is never just 1 thing.
Story
We used to take the car up to Parker Dam in DuBois, PA and the one time we went my 5 year old and I stopped to take pictures of a mama bear and her 2 cubs that were crossing the road.
Pros
I like that the exterior is very heavily built. I like that it has a dual transmission so I can choose to drive it as an automatic or manual as I choose. I also like that it has fold down seats cause I can fit just about anything back there.
Cons
I think that the top negatives about this vehicle are that it breaks down so easy. No matter how much maintenance you keep up on it still has problems. When I fixed both shift sensors the new ones only lasted about 2 months.
2009 Hyundai Santa Fe -
Overall what drew me to the car was the design. At the time, it seemed more modern and ahead of other vehicle manufacturers. Even after nine years I still liked the way the car looked. That included the styling, paint color and it’s quality. The AWD was a big bonus during the winter month. The car handled great in snow.
Story
Using the truck to go hiking and camping in the Appalachian mountains. The use of AWD/4x4 was surprisingly good on some rougher than normal terrain. The SUV held a good amount of gear and held 4 in the cabin comfortably.
Pros
The top positive things about this vehicle was it’s general reliability and the smoothness of the transmission. My favorite features of the vehicle was the power and handling of the SUV. The seats were very comfortable as well. And the electronics technology at the time of purchase was ahead of most other car makers at the time.
Cons
The fuel economy and material quality in some parts of the vehicle.
