I bought this car because I was looking for a hatchback that was roomier than the sub-compacts that are frequently seen on the market today. The Elantra GT was one of the only cars out there that fit the bill (and my budget!). I love having the more flexible cargo space that comes along with owning this car. With the seats folded down, I was able to easily fit the baby crib that I purchased at Walmart, with room to fit the crib mattress as well. The seats fold down easily, although they do not fold completely flat. The base model comes with plenty of features that make this car a serious upgrade from my previous 2004 Honda Civic. The front heated seats have two settings, and they're great on cold winter days. The Bluetooth capabilities make hands-free calling easy and allows me ... (more)
Story
I once when on a date where the guy I met told me my car looked like a cross between a mouse and a spaceship because of the little XM antenna on top!
Pros
My favorite features are the fuel economy, the amount of storage in the hatchback cargo area, and the Bluetooth connectivity.
Cons
The interior fabric can be difficult to keep clean, and I wish that the seats folded flat.

2013 Hyundai Elantra GT - Good car with a few exceptions.

My 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT (hatchback) has been a reliable, dependent vehicle whose only issues so far have been small cosmetic defects that I wish would have come up more in reviews when I was originally researching the car. Overall, the car has not had any major issues and has continued to perform well even into the 70,000+ mile range that is it in now.
Story
One time, my boyfriend and I went for a ride up into the mountains about an hour away from my home. We pulled off onto the side of the road, and used the panoramic sunroof to star-gaze (it was too cold outside to get out).
Pros
The Elantra gets great gas mileage, is roomy, has great amenities (my version comes with a panoramic sunroof that has been amazing!), and is simply a nice, solid car that is great for everyday use. It would be large enough to easily fit children and car seats as well if you have those. Nothing huge or very important has shown any type of manufacturer defect in 70,000+ miles, either!
Cons
The steering wheel's leather is faulty and is both easily scratched and has shown signs of wear well beyond what I would expect from as early on as a year into ownership. This is however a purely cosmetic issue. The only other large con I can think of would be that it could definitely be quieter on the road, and it seems like the road noise has increased inside the car over the years.
