2013 Hyundai Accent - A fun, dependable little car.
It's a fun, dependable little car. Quite fuel efficient, which could be something important with fuel prices rising. Looks kind of cool for a subcompact with some aggressive lines along the sides of the body. It lacks features, though. Doesn't even have cruise control. The interior is very basic. Parts, when they must be replaced, tend to be fairly cheap. Fairly comfortable, despite its small size. Has a decent amount of power for a subcompact. A great car for any commute.
Story
I drove 20 hours straight once out to the east coast. It was a great drive. The vehicle had no issues. Got there safely.
Pros
Very good fuel economy. I average around 40 miles per gallon. As somebody who is big into long road trips, this is a great thing, even with its relatively small gas tank. It has a great look, somewhat counter to what you'd expect from a subcompact. Acceleration is decent for a subcompact. Steering and handling is top-notch. Parts tend to be cheap when you have to replace them.
Cons
It's small and basic. Aside from a car stereo, heating and air conditioning, there really aren't many amenities, including cruise control. The interior is extremely basic, just standard cloth and carpet. It's also a little ugly, the shade of grey doesn't fit the red paint job well. Probably can't seat a family of four comfortably. Doesn't come with a spare tire. Very limited trunk space.
2000 Hyundai Accent - 10/10 Would Purchase Again
This was my very first car, purchased in high school. It was small, fuel efficient, and very zippy. I loved the look of it, it had a small spoiler and made it look sporty. It was a little cramped for my friends in the backseat, but the trunk had plenty of space for a compact car.
Story
One winter, I drove a few hours up north for a winter camp. I was given a $100 gas card and I was off. I had an excellent playlist set up, and plenty of snacks.
Halfway through the trip, US-131 had a bridge closed so I had to take the "scenic route". This was only a few days before New Years, and I live in Michigan so the snow was crazy deep. There were two points where my car went sideways ... (more)
Pros
Very fuel efficient, even for a car built in 2000 it got 30 MPG on average. It had a small interior so it warmed up and cooled off quickly. It was easy to maintain, everything was easily accessible. It was like it was built of Legos, everything came apart and went back together easily. The battery went forever, it wasn't until 2009 that I had to replace the original battery. Tires were incredibly cheap because they were small so I was able to get the best tires for way less.
Cons
Slow acceleration, since it was a 4 cylinder. Backseat was very cramped for my friends, since most of them averaged 6 feet tall. The sound system was junk, even from the beginning.

2013 Hyundai Veloster - Fox Hyundai Grand Rapids
This dealership had exactly what I was looking for and did not pressure me into something else. I went to another Hyundai dealer in West Michigan, and they did not have what I wanted, and wasted quite a bit of my time. Fox Hyundai was a breath of fresh air.
2006 Hyundai Sonata - Tony Betten And Sons Ford Grand Rapids
The salesperson was friendly. I don't remember his name. He even gave me a ride home after I test drove a car. He knocked some money off the vehicle, which I appreciated. Seemed like a friendly guy. I would go there again.
