2006 Hyundai Accent - What a nightmare!
Oh dear gosh, where do I start to tell you how much I hated this car? We purchased it from a dealership because we liked the sporty body and the great sound system. But let's start with the air conditioning. Exactly one week after the warranty expired, so did the A/C. Fixing it would have cost over $2000 dollars, so we did without. About 6 months later, as I was trying to cross a 4 lane highway with my child in the back seat, the sucker stalled. No sputtering, no slow down, it just died. I put it in neutral and managed to get it restarted as horns blared and brakes squealed. The local repair shop, eminently trustworthy, replaced the gas cap. On the way home, it stalled in traffic again. Back it went to the shop, where it got a new fuel pump. It managed to make it three weeks before it ... (more)
Story
Other than the time it caught on fire while the prospective buyer, my husband and I were waiting at a traffic light? Nope, can't top that one.
Pros
I liked the body style and the sound system.
Cons
The most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned.
2006 Hyundai Accent - Reliable little car
The Hyundai accent is a small but reliable car. I've owned one for a decade and have had few problems with it aside from routine maintenance. Hyundai is good about contacting owners and providing fixes to factory caused problems. For example, once the brake light cable needed to be fixed on all models after several years so they sent letters to all owners and provided free repairs if brought to a dealership. It has slightly above average gas mileage which is good for both town and long distance driving, but the gas tank is fairly small. The seats are comfortable but would be difficult to situate yourself in if you are tall and have long legs. The cupholders have a clever design that let you set drinks of many different sizes in them. There are many cupholders in the vehicle, even in th... (more)
Story
My car horn sounds like the roadrunner which is regularly found to be adorable
Pros
The car is comfortable, has good mileage, is safe, has a plethora of cupholders, and has excellent maneuverability.
Cons
The car is small, does not accelerate well, does not have cruise control, the body can scratch and dent easily.
