2004 Honda Odyssey - Great Family Vehicle
We have owned our van for 9 years, and it has been a wonderful car for us. We purchased it used in 2007 with only 44,000 miles on it. We now have 213,000 miles on it and have enjoyed a great many trips in it. As it is getting older, we are starting to have some of the expected problems with an older car, such as some of the electronics not behaving as they should consistently, and the transmission is shifting a little harder.
Story
We enjoy taking our van up to the lake near here. We load up our stand up paddle boards, and fill the back up with coolers, towels, and anything else we need, and spend the day. We have even brought our small BBQ with us to make dinner.
Pros
I loved how comfortable the ride is in this van. We had planned to buy a Chrysler van, but after driving the Honda we decided it was worth the extra money for the comfort. The automatic doors were still a pretty new thing when we got this van, and it was an amazing feature to have with three small kids to load in the car. The amount of cargo space compared to SUV's and even other vans is amazing. We have yet to run out of space.
Cons
We did have to replace the transmission in our van at about 105,000 miles. Apparently that was an issue in that particular year in this van. I believe they have since worked out the transmission issues, but that was a huge expense. My only other con would be the frequency we needed to replace the brake pads. Like a lot of large vehicles, the brakes and tires seemed to wear out fast.
1997 Honda Odyssey -
This is a great vehicle. The thing about Hondas is, when treated correctly and taken care of they can run for a very long time. My 1997 Honda odyssey just turned over to around 150,000 miles and it is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. It is a very comfortable and enjoyable ride, with a lot of space not only for people to comfortably sit but also a lot of space to transport anything that you need to transport.
Story
One fun memory I have with this car is driving it, my mini van, through some roads up in the coast range mountains of Oregon. Some people would not believe it, but this car handles bumps and ruts better then anyone would ever expect. It trucked on through the mud and the dirt like a champ.
Pros
Some of the many positive things about this vehicle are: Lots of space for either people or stuff, long lasting so that you can drive it for many years, a very smooth ride for everyone in the car, and also pretty generally for fuel efficient for a car of its class. I usually get 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. So it is great for taking on long road trips if it is necessary.
Cons
Even though there are many great things about this vehicle there are still a couple of cons. This is a relatively big car and that does not help if you are in a situation where you need to park in small spaces. Also due to its size, this vehicle does not corner well and you definitely need to take it slow when you are going around bends and tight corners.
