This car is one of the greatest cars I have owned. I like the fact that it gets 40 miles per gallon and is extremely reliable. I drive about 100 miles a day with this car, and I could not ask for a more reliable and efficient vehicle. I have had this car for over 8 years, and after 250,000 miles, I have not had any major mechanical breakdowns. In fact, the only problem I have had with this vehicle is with the locking mechanism in the door locks. The fix requires a Honda Certified Mechanic, but this simple fix far outweighs the cost of typical mechanical breakdowns that I just have not had with this automobile.
Story
One fun memory I have with this car is when I took this car to a camp at a church. The church was selling windows that they had replaced and a friend of mine bought two. She had come in a truck, and was afraid to lay the window down in the bed. She asked me if I had room in my car. I told her sure, let me pack everything up and we will get them in there. Well she helped me load my tent, sleepi... (more)
Pros
My favorite feature with this car is that it has four doors and has an adjustable back seat. By this I mean I can raise the seats up to stand up larger items across the back seat, like my bicycle. Just the other day I transported windows in my car and had them standing upright in the backseat. Or, one can lay the back seats down and have a complete opening to the trunk that is a flat surface. I have used this space to haul plywood and boards, which I can easily lay in the car by reclining the passenger seat. The height of the car enables me to even haul a lawn mower by setting it upright i... (more)
Cons
Unfortunately there are some things I am not 100% satisfied with about this vehicle. The major hangup I have, which may just be from normal wear and tear, is that I have lost use of two locks on the car: the trunk lock and the driver's side door. These are both easy fixes, however the locks must be installed and keyed at a certified Honda garage.

I have driven the car for over 24,900 miles and find it very comfortable and economical. The gas mileage is excellent. The car's interior has held up well. I would recommend the car to anyone who does not have a large family or doesn't require a great deal of room. I am a 72 year old single, but have traveled comfortably with as many as three to four other people without a problem. The storage space for four people would be very tight, however, if only two or three people, the rear seats can be lowered to provide more storage. The car comes equipped with a CD player, stereo radio, and iPod connection. I find the iPod connection very useful because I can study language or listen to an audio book while traveling, instead of attempting to adjust the radio for each lost of signal. I love t... (more)
Story
When I first drove it to visit some family members in another city, my nephew upon seeing it for the first time said, "Auntie, I didn't know you worked for NASA?" When I responded, "I never worked for NASA!" He said "Well, how did you get that 'space buggy'!"
Pros
My favorite features are its low gasoline usage, the design features: just as comfortable seats, built in stereo radio, CD player, iPod connection, ability to lower rear seats for more storage space, comfortable ride, compact size for easy parking. The ability to chose to drive it as a manual or automatic.
Cons
The top negative things about the car would be the storage space if you have to transport more than three people and carry their luggage. I really haven't found any other negatives. Even this is not usually a problem for me, since I seldom have occasion to travel with more than two people exclusive of myself.

2015 Honda Fit - Excellent car for short and long trips.

While the Fit looks small on the outside, it is roomy on the inside. Even friends over six feet tall felt comfortable riding in the car. And because the backseat folds down, this small hatchback can easily turn into great transportation for larger objects, from luggage for a long trip to new furniture from Ikea. And the low profile means that it's easy to put things into and take things out of the car. The car has a tight turning radius that makes it easy to park, and the back-up camera makes parallel parking and backing into or out of places incredibly easy. I have to admit that I'm spoiled by the back-up camera now! The Fit also has great gas mileage, and this model includes a fuel economy mode that helps increase that gas mileage. I've enjoyed driving the car and would purchase anot... (more)
Story
I mentioned the gas mileage above, and it helped keep me safe during a hurricane evacuation. I traveled through three states, much of it in gridlock traffic through cities and towns that were totally out of gas. While part of my successful journey was down to luck, I was glad that my car could go so long without a fill-up. I never got to the point where I was afraid I'd completely run out of gas.
Pros
Great gas mileage — makes it economical for stop-and-go city traffic and very affordable for longer trips. The Bluetooth audio makes it easy to take phone calls, follow GPS navigation, or listen to podcasts or music of my choice. The car is comfortable to ride in and fun to drive. Love the back-up camera!
Cons
One of the few things I don't like about it is that the very low profile makes it easy to scrape the bottom of the car. There is a protective cover on the bottom that came loose/got cracked and broke within the first six months of driving it. I gave more information in the "problems with the vehicle" section. Another issue I had is that it took me a while to get the seat, seatbelt, and steering wheel adjusted for my height (5'3"). I had to get a seatbelt adjuster that keeps the shoulder strap off my neck. This happens to me in most vehicles, though. And I still sometimes have trouble seein... (more)
