2004 Honda CR-V - Love it!!!
My 2004 Honda CR-V is amazing. It blends in, so when I am speeding down the highway I always seem to go unnoticed. All jokes aside there is a reason why so many people drive them. They are dependable and well equipped. My CR-V has had little to no problems. I am well over 100k and its still going strong. I will be honest, I do not care for the body redesign of the newer models and am concerned when my baby finally hits the dust. It gets pretty good gas mileage for a small SUV. The CR-V is pretty comfortable on road trips. The back storage area is a great size. Putting the seats back down you have enough room for a solid Ikea trip. With the seats up it easily fits 4 adults comfortably. And the back storage area can fit all luggage for those same 4 adults. Lets just say this car made dri... (more)
Story
We live in a suburban/ rural area and there are times when off-roading is necessary. Even though this is just an all wheel drive vehicle it still can manage most situations from icy treacherous roads to hilly grassy fields. Don't get me wrong I would never take it onto a beach, but it can surprisingly manage ice/ snow drifts if done slowly.
Pros
The CR-V is the perfect size. It is great for running around town with 2 medium sized dogs in tow. And I still have room for all of the random things I end up with. One of my favorite features is the stow away table. The table is great for tailing gating. Under the table is a small area (where the spare tire can fit) that you can stow away all kinds of stuff. For me its normally just jumper cables, but its nice to have the extra storage. I have the sunroof/ moon roof option, which is rather nice. I enjoy opening it up if the weather is nice. This sunroof seems to be pretty good quality. I ... (more)
Cons
The biggest negative I have for the CR-V is the tire cover. The zipper on the tire cover is absolute crap. I have only had one flat tire where I needed to use my spare. After fighting for what seemed to be an eternity to get the zipper open to gain access to my spare I finally gave up and resorted to cutting it off with a pair of scissors. Thank goodness I was home, I don't know how I would have gotten into it otherwise. The catch-22 for my CR-V blending in everywhere is that it blends in. If you a parked in a large parking lot there are so many CR-Vs everywhere. Even with the key chain fo... (more)
2004 Honda CR-V - Excellent car for new drivers
Overall, the CRV is a strong vehicle, especially for a family or a new driver. It is reliable and consistently outperforms other used cars I am familiar with (among friends and family). It is affordable and roomy. I love the table in the back and use it all the time! I also appreciate the height at which it rides, allowing for easy viewing of the road. It doesn't have great acceleration or a "strong" engine so maybe not good for mountains, but on the East Coast, it is perfect.
Story
Using this for camping, the back trunk floorboard is actually a small card table/picnic table. I use this in my home for guests and on the road for camping and picnicking. The table has been an awesome addition!
Pros
I think my favorite thing about this vehicle is its longevity. It has over 210,000 miles and is running strong. It is performing as well as another foreign car I have that has 60,000 less miles. I love the table in the back, the ease at which I can clean it and the storage space. I love the backdoor window that latches up and the high-ground clearance.
Cons
After more than 200,000 miles, many things have stopped working like they used to. Especially the AC, the electronics on the door locks/windows. The key locks are less reliable, and the back door lock doesn't work at all. It has very minimal power, and pickup to accelerate onto the highway is tough.
