2015 Honda CR-V - Reliable, Economical, Technology
The reliability is exceptional. I've had zero problems with the vehicle. The fuel economy has been great considering the vehicle is an al-wheel drive SUV. I like the technological features in the vehicle. The best technological feature is the adaptive cruise control. The vehicle performs excellent in the snow. The handling is excellent in all conditions including dry, wet, ice, and snow covered conditions. The cargo area is large and is easy to expand with easy to fold down rear seats. The vehicle is very comfortable and excellent on a long trip. The power lift gate is a great feature making it super easy to open the rear lift gate.
Story
Shortly after purchasing the vehicle and driving around town, I wasn't really paying attention and the collision avoidance feature activated and automatically braked the vehicle. It was a little shocking at first, but I was glad to have the feature as I avoided rear ending another vehicle.
Pros
Reliability. Adaptive Cruise Control. Collision Avoidance - automatic braking when a collision is imminent. Power lift gate. Rear Camera. Excellent Fuel Economy. Excellent handling in all road conditions. Large cargo area and easy to fold down rear seats. Engine performance - it has plenty of performance for an SUV.
Cons
Stereo could be better - sound is just average. Lane keeping assist is primitive - would prefer a more advanced system like the Tesla. Styling is kind of boring. Camera on the right side of vehicle - doesn't provide a clear view of things on the right side of vehicle. I would prefer a 360 view camera. I would also like a higher resolution camera.
2010 Honda CR-V - A very reliable family car.
The CRV performed quite admirably in the Michigan winter. The all-wheel drive was very dependable. As a family of four, we maxed out the cargo space on many of our long trips. Both of my boys found the back seat to be spacious. We could fit two car seats and still squeeze an adult between them if needed.
Story
We were able to take our CRV on a road trip to Charleston, South Carolina. The boys had gotten a book on CD from the library, and I have fond memories of listening to "The BFG" while driving through the Smoky Mountains.
Pros
I like the all-wheel drive. I thought the gas mileage was acceptably nice for the type of vehicle it was. The CRV is a shorter wheel base than a minivan. This allowed for more maneuverability in parking lots or driveways and garages. I liked the fact that I didn't feel like I was trying to squeeze a bus into a parking spot. I also like the ease of the LATCH system to connect car seats.
Cons
As mentioned before, we regularly maxed out the cargo space with all of our gear when we went on extended trips. We had to add a hitch and use a hitch mounted rack with a travel trunk to include extra supplies.
