2013 Honda Civic - Your classic reliable Honda.
Before buying I looked at all competing vehicles for small/economy car class. The civic was excellent for all of the areas that I really cared about. Which in order was: safety, fuel economy, and value. But as a bonus the interior is well designed and the fuel and speed indicators are easy to see and understand.
Story
This is the first car I have had that teenage boys have looked at admiringly as previously I only owned somewhat granny-like sedans.
Pros
One of the best things is the rear backup camera. When I bought it I thought it was neat but it truly has proved to be useful and accurate when trying to navigate in tight spaces and in avoiding accidents.
Cons
The only true negative is that I made a mistake in buying a coupe. While great looking, the model has proven to be a negative when I have to give more that one person a ride and one or more adults are forced to bend themselves to get into the back seat.
1998 Honda Civic - 293K miles and still running!
I purchased my Honda from a not-so-honest private party. However, this car has exceeded my expectations. It has been my daily commuter for over 5 years and has not failed me yet. The body will go because that motor does!
Story
I left my car for 9 months, for business reasons. When I returned, the car took 3 tries and it started again.
Pros
Cheap replacement parts.
Wonderful gas mileage, like 37MPG in the summer and 30 in the winter.
Easy transmission to shift (manual transmission).
Cons
I purchased the DX for a couple reasons and these could also be cons in some eyes:
No electric windows
No electric locks
No cruise control
Not having these features just means there is less that can break.
