Honda Civic Owner Ratings & Reviews

2006 Honda Civic - Small, excellent MPG, no power
I drive a 2006 Honda Civic. I like that it is a durable vehicle. I have put 80,000 plus miles on the vehicle with majority of those miles in the northern states (e.g., Minnesota and New York), and the muffler fell off once due to rust from the salt and sand during the winter months.
Story
Memorable moment is when I got T-boned by another vehicle at a intersection where the traffic light stopped working. The accident cratered my passenger side under carriage and both doors, requiring extensive repairs. The paints no longer match under certain angle and lights. It's memorable because the person that ran into me asked me on a date. For a guy, having an attractive girl asking you o... (more)
Pros
The car is great with fuel economy, especially when the gasoline price is getting to be so high. The Civic is very reliable with scheduled maintenance upkeep. The biggest problem I have had is the O2 sensor failing and preventing the car to start. If you're on a budget and only need to get from point A to point B, this car will get you there. After 80,000 plus miles, the motor is still running strong and the air conditioning still work. I have yet to need a change in brake fluids.
Cons
The Civic does not have much power or torque. If you're going uphill at a 10% grade or higher, you will notice that you are pushing (based on the RPM gauge) the Civic a lot harder than normal just to maintain the same speed limit throughout the drive uphill. The 2006 version also do not accelerate. You will noticed your vehicle will takeoff slower than bigger motors or that you will have to push (based on RPM gauge) the vehicle a lot harder than other, bigger motor vehicles.
2016 Honda Civic - Reliable, stylish, good value.
I purchased my 2016 Civic in February of last year as an early college graduation present to myself. It's a manual LX sedan in a fetching shade they call "Aegean Blue", and my second Honda product but certainly not my last. Prior to the first, I had a run of terribly bad luck with unreliable cars so reliability was a top priority during my shopping process. As a recent college grad, I was also particularly focused on value for money, on account of the fact that I have none. So far, the Civic has served me extremely well on both counts, as well as being a joy to drive.
Story
After I actually graduated (a few months after purchase), I took my partner on a thousand mile road trip with a loop that took us through California, Arizona, and Nevada. We both saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, fell in love with Flagstaff, and finished the trip off with a swanky room in Vegas. I'll remember it for the rest of my life.
Pros
I am absolutely smitten with the styling. It's modern, daring, and aggressive like nothing else priced within $10k of it. For a base model, I was surprised with the feature content. It comes standard with a backup camera, Bluetooth phone/audio hookup, USB charging ports, TPMS, and hill start assist. The ride is exceptionally comfortable and quiet for a compact car, with agile handling and one of the best manual gearboxes I've ever used.
Cons
Apart from the two minor mechanical issues detailed below in the "problems" section, my only complaint about the vehicle is that at the time of purchase, Honda was only offering a manual transmission on the base model (i.e. non-turbo engine, no options available to speak of) sedan. Within six months, they introduced a new body style, and a few months after that they introduced the manual for turbo engines and mid-trim vehicles.
