The Honda Civic is a good reliable car that still provides great fuel economy. My 1998 Civic EX model has 225K miles and everything is still in good working condition. The only item I have had to replace is the cooling fans for the radiator and a/c condenser and an oil pan gasket. I use this as my DD and put 50 miles a day on it. I would recommend a Honda to anyone and I will most likely get my oldest child one for their first car.
Story
Teaching my wife how to drive a manual drive vehicle. She was so nervous and scared but after 20 minutes she was driving up and down the road and now feels comfortable driving it by herself.
Pros
Reliable, great fuel economy and only take $20-$25 to fill up (gas around $2.25/Gal). With 225K miles, I have not had to replace anything on the motor or drive train.
Cons
Only a 4 cyl motor so you will not pass anything quickly but I would rather save the fuel. Ceiling liner will not stay up and is falling down. The interior window trim on all 4 doors melted in the summer heat and left sticky residue over the entire inside of the window and was a PITA to get off (3 hours for all 4 windows). Exhaust rusted through and had to remove muffler. Not bad for 225K miles.

The instant I got into my Honda Civic I immediately knew this was the car for me. The interior of the car is made from high quality materials which really gives it a nice quality feel. The Civic gets great gas mileage in town at about 28 mpg. It may only have a 4 cylinder but you could easily mistake it for a V6. The exterior is of course very sleek and stylish looking. Overall I would say my 2008 Honda Civic EX is the best car I have ever owned in my life.

We used to have a blast flying down this old empty highway in town.
Pros
Pros for my Civic would include excellent gas mileage, great look, very comfortable seats, and handles extremely well. The dash is very neat and almost futuristic looking with the blue back lights. Everyone who has driven my Civic loves it and always says they wished they had gotten a Honda. Surprisingly enough I can even fit my fishing rods into the trunk because the back seats fold down. That trunk has WAY more room than I expected when I first saw the car.
Cons
As for the cons I can't really think of much. The interior could be a bit larger I suppose. Biggest con is that I didn't buy it sooner and drove a Toyota before!
