2000 Honda Civic - Dependable, trustworthy
When I first saw my 2000 Honda Civic DX at the dealership I figured it was going to be a piece of junk since it was sitting in the sell or auction off area. For some reason I just thought it was so cute and decided to take it for a test drive. I've loved it from then on! I was used to a top of the line vehicle and this Honda had no luxuries in it at all. It is small, actually has windows that have to be rolled up with a crank, cloth bucket seats, and nothing frilly I need to worry about breaking. It only has 108,000 miles on it. I have chosen this vehicle over a new one several times. New things die quicker than older things. When I want to go to the beat of the music it picks up and goes!
Story
When I first got my car I just enjoyed the shock and surprise others had when I would show up. I was known for having a minivan that I would make thump with the Bose stereo system when I went down the road. So when I showed up and people did a second take and started laughing at me, it became comical. No body could believe I gave what I had up to go to such a simple small car. I wanted simplic... (more)
Pros
For me the top positive things would have to be the size, basic model that it is and that it is a Honda. I had longer to write and I wasn't on a timer I could think of more.
I enjoy having a car that is just my size. I don't have to worry about being the one that takes everyone to the lake or where ever because it isn't big enough! As I get older the non-electronicness of the car might be more of an issue but right now I really like it. I don't have the best of luck and so I really like that there are no electronics to not work when the battery dies. (Which it has done a couple of times ... (more)
Cons
The worst thing for me has been when I have had to haul around my 17 year old son. He is 6'3" and calls my car a "tuna can" when he has to go somewhere with me. Someone his size is really not meant to sit in this small of a car. My oldest son has recently had a child and so the great thing about only being able to fit me applies to here too. There is absolutely no way him, his wife, and son and my other son fit. With my bad back I have also discovered the torture of trying to put an infant in the back in a car seat. It is not something I recommend!
2004 Honda Civic - If only
When I bought my Honda Civic DX it was only one-year-old. I had been to every used car lot in my city. It was the last car I looked at and now I wish I had bought the brand new Scion I eyed the car lot before. This one was very pretty with metallic green paint job and it is a four-door. It's a hatch back but not a hatch back. It looks like a regular sedan but you can fold the seats down to put something big in the trunk. It's an automatic.
I have to say it's a very reliable car with little up keep. I've had the spark plugs replaced and I had the engine cleaned by them blowing out the lines? The oil's been kept up. It runs good! Why the low rating then?
Because it looks like utter crap! Apparently, Honda and a few other car companies used really cheap clear-coat in the early 00s. It s... (more)
Story
I'm sorry I can't think of anything.
Pros
It WAS pretty.
It is a good running car
Cons
All the clear coat came off and it's downright embarrassing to drive, not to mention this has devalued the car.
