Honda Civic Owner Ratings & Reviews

1997 Honda Civic - I enjoyed driving this car for the time I had it.
I enjoyed the size of the vehicle. Five seater with a great size trunk. The body on it was sleek, and it was a great ride even for an older vehicle. It handled great on the road in all types of weather. Great in the summer months, fast but not scary fast. Just fast enough. Driving this in the winter was a breeze. It seemed like it had the perfect weight to keep it from getting stuck in the ice and snow living in Alaska. I never had one problem driving, steering, stopping or going no matter how crazy the weather was. I liked the size mostly because maneuvering it in and out of small parking spaces or at the grocery store was way easier than some of the other vehicles I have driven. For an older car, one would expect it to be falling apart inside and out, but it was an all around great r... (more)
Story
I enjoyed driving this car very much mostly because of its size and ability to move around freely on the road. Driving around the city in Anchorage was a fun time because I knew I wasn't wasting too much gas, and it was just a comfy ride. The interior was warm as it was cloth so it kept us comfy no matter what season.
Pros
I liked the size the most. I also think It has the perfect size gas tank for what I used it for. Filling it up wasn't too hard on the wallet at around 24 dollars at the most with gas being 2.50 at the time. It seemed to last me a good while.
Cons
The only thing I can think of that I didn't particularly enjoy was the fact that it had manual windows.
1996 Honda Civic - Honda Civic - It's still the car of the year for me
I bought my Honda Civic ES new in 1996 when co-workers insisted I sell my beloved 1989 Honda Wagovan to them. I did extensive research and comparison between various Honda makes as well as Toyota and Subaru models. The 1996 Honda Civic was named "Car of the Year" which influenced me, but I also found that driving it was fun and comfortable since I've always preferred smaller cars.
Story
My car is special to me. I go in and test drive other cars every two years or so, but I've never found one that's as intuitive and comfortable fore me to drive. I love it so much that years ago when someone t-boned me I used the insurance check to have it rebuilt instead of allowing it to be scrapped!
Pros
It has a stick shift and is super responsive, with quick acceleration. It's been incredibly reliable over the years, with minimal repair work required. Of course, keeping it up-to-date with routine maintenance is important and has certainly contributed to this car's longevity.
Cons
I wish the trunk on the coupe opened a bit wider. There are times when I'd like to carry something in the cargo area (like an 18-gal Rubbermaid tote of supplies), but it won't fit through the opening. In those cases I have to recline the passenger seat and put the large item there.
