2002 Honda Civic Owner Ratings & Reviews

2002 Honda Civic - Reliable tough little car
I like the care because of the dependability that I can expect from a Honda vehicle. I love that this car is easy to maintain and not to hard to work on. The average car mechanic can depend on Honda to give you straight forward information pertaining to its maintenance schedule and how to repair. I do however dislike Honda specialty tools that are needed to do major repairs and maintenance; but other than this minor setback. I still love my car and its ability to take harsh road conditions and extreme workloads. It is built to last with affordable parts that you can purchase at most local gear shops.
Story
I had raced a car going on to a on ramp. The civic stuck to the ground like glue and I was able to pass the car with ease. The other driver dropped his jaw staring as I passed him joining the flow of traffic on the freeway.
Pros
I love that my Honda is built to last. I find this car to be incredibly easy to work on. I really like that I can afford most of the parts and find it easy to install with little overview of the shop manual. Which is very comprehensive in the delivery of how to repair and maintain. The overall styling of my civic is simple; but functional and not boring like most cars in it category. I like the frost white paint job. The interior is very sporty and although I have had my car for some time it still seems new. I really like that my rear seats can lay down. It makes it super easy
Cons
I dislike that Honda make certain jobs nearly impossible to do without the proper specialty tool that only Honda can provide through there dealership retail store. These tools can be very expensive. I also dislike that they changed the suspension setup for this model civic as compared to its early model that had more of a sportier handle on the road.
2002 Honda Civic - A good daily driver
I have had this car for about 7 years and have only had a few issues with it. One of the issues did turn out to be pretty major, but it was partly due to owner negligence and a bad mechanic. Overall it has been a great car for my needs. I don't need much though, and wouldn't recommend it to some of my friends who like the flashier things. My main need is to have a reliable daily driver for commuting to work and back. In the 7 years I have owned it, I have put over 100,000 additional miles on a car that already had about 100,000 miles on it. I like how the back seat footrest area doesn't have a hump in the middle. I am a painter and like the ability to put paintings in the backseat and have them lay flat.
Story
Whenever I have a local art show, I just load up the civic with paintings rather than shipping anything. I took 3 trips back and forth between my studio and the gallery loading up the civic as much as possible.
Pros
This car gets good gas mileage and had been very reliable. It is a common car, so getting parts or repairs has never been an issue. Plus you can find a lot of online tutorials to walk you through basic repairs.
Cons
I had to replace the head gasket recently and that led to a bunch of other problems. I wouldn't say they are the car's fault though as the mechanic was pretty bad and I should have taken it in sooner for repairs. Overall though, there hasn't been many problems.
