1994 Honda Accord - That MPG Tho!
I've been driving my 1994 Honda Accord for about 4 months now (tax season). So far I've had to replace the speed sensor, spark plugs, and wires, although this is normal as the car has 185k miles on it! This does not include the normal oil changes, because obviously, you NEED to do your regular oil changes frequently. I got the car with 10/10 interior, which is very rare now a days for a 1994 Accord. The interior is a soft beige, and looks very sleek and modern (for the year). All in all, I have put about 6,500 miles on the car so far, and do not have a problem. I still get around 28 MPG city, all day long! The car is automatic, :( I was hoping for a 5 speed but the quality was too good to pass up, but even for an automatic car, the MPG is great, and I can get to work, school, pick up m... (more)
Story
Best memory, getting this car to top out on the straight always heading to Sonora, CA from Modesto, CA. Although I have received some bad speeding tickets from the overly obnoxious Oakdale PD.
Pros
The MPG is amazing! 28 City all day baby!
The interior is modern for its time era!
Very roomy interior, plenty of passenger and back seat leg room.
The toque is great for a single cam engine.
Oh, did I mention the MPG?
Cons
I cant think of to many at this time, but ill try my best.
It's 11 years old!
It's a single cam engine.
Antenna motor likes to break.
Auto door locks make loud noises. (Seen this on every accord the same generation)
Not much more I can think of. I think the biggest con is the car being 11 years old. Not much of a con for me tho, as I like older cars!
1994 Honda Accord - This vehicle has been my "old faithful."
There are several pros to this vehicle. However, there are a few cons, yet that wouldn't stop me from purchasing another one. Out of the cons, my least favorite, is how low the seats are. I've noticed that it's more difficult to get in and out of this vehicle the older I get, and it's not kind on my hips or knees. Another con is that the door motor/switch makes this hideous sound when locking. It sounds as if it's locking then unlocking back to back almost 30 times. Yes, I've counted. Along with the other cons, is the fact that most vehicles made around this year and up until '98 seem to lose their clear coat faster than other models. Now, the next-to-last con is that the car sits low to the ground. I actually had to have my exhaust replaced from front to back because of this. ... (more)
Story
One of the best memories I had in this vehicle was when it took me to a small town in North Carolina to view the Great Solar Eclipse at 100% totality! I had zero issues with my "Old Faithful," and we had a safe trip there and back. I really couldn't ask for a better car, at least, for now.
Pros
For a compact vehicle, it has enough space for approximately five people. Great gas mileage! Easy to work on. Does well in the elements (even snow). It will take you past 200,00 with routine maintenance and runs as if it were new. Very reliable. Most of them are aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion. It has decent trunk space for an economy vehicle. The seats have decent cushioning as well as a storage pocket on the back. The replacement parts are actually reasonable when you compare it to a VW and other foreign cars. It doesn't have as many "blind spots" as some vehicles, making it feel safe.
Cons
The seats sit too low causing a lot of wear on my joints. The clear-coat peels off on most '94-'98 models. The electronic components in the door act wonky as if the motor is going on when being locked. Sits low to the ground. The tires are now harder to find used. You will most likely have to always buy them new,
