It is a well rounded vehicle. I have had it ten years and have loved every minute of it. I have had very little problems with it and I feel it is probably one of the best balanced vehicle I have ever owned. I have tried to get it stuck but it will not, in fact I have spent many winters pulling full-size trucks out of snow ditches. I have used the truck as a work vehicle for a lawn service and for a logging company and it has withstood everything I have thrown at it. She has some dents and scratches now but I cannot seem to let it go. I just hit 180k miles and the dealership still values it at over $5,000.00... Overall, an amazing purchase and I will definitely be getting another one.
Story
I installed ladder racks on my truck bed and now we use to haul the kayaks and go camping. My wife and I love the outdoors and this truck makes it easy to get there.
Pros
For a truck the gas mileage is pretty good. I average around 20 mpg. The truck is easy to maintain and parts are fairly cheap. The towing package is unmatched in its class.
Cons
The only negative is that my truck being a 4x4 it tends to eat through front tires a little quicker than the back ones but no other complaints.

I used to be a hard core Chevy, and General motors fan. I have owned Chevy vehicles since I was 14 years old. I say used to be because after owning this vehicle and dealing with the new quality of the General motors team, I will never buy another product of theirs again. The GMC Canyon was the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I bought it 1 year old with the certified like new guarantee. The dealership wouldn't honor the warranty, always looking for ways to bill me for their terrible workmanship. I have two cars, both of which can drive on snowy roads without getting stuck, better than this four wheel drive vehicle.
Story
Sad but true this truck left me stranded on Alpine avenue outside Grand Rapids heading to Muskegon in the pouring rain on a return trip from picking up my daughters for a weekend. While I can not say much positive about the vehicle I do have to say that some how we made the 3 hour walk home eventful and even a bonding moment by using the geolocation apps on our phones and finding hidden treasu... Pros
The pros to owning a Canyon that I can think of are few but there were a couple. I did like the comfort features like the push button shift on the go four wheel drive feature. The surround system with blue tooth and satellite radio was also a nice feature. And to give credit where it is do I owned the crew cab edition and it was a very comfortable and smooth ride. Smooth shifting and the suspension went smoothly over even bumpy roads.
Cons
The cons are too many to list but I will do what I can. Including the depreciation factor just for purchasing it. 1) The dealership for certified GMC vehicles was terrible and my vehicle lived in the dealership more than in my garage. 2) The wiring of the vehicle had every bell and alarm going off 24/7. The only thing the dealership mechanics would tell me is that they have seen similar problems with all vehicles in this model and year range.. 3) The transmission has some type of override that refuses to allow you to “rock the vehicle. Long and short of it is that even in four wheel driv... (more)

The truck looks nice and is comfortable enough. I've had small electronic issues with the truck almost since day one. There was a major ignition issue with it two years ago that cost about $900 to fix. The window motors have had to be replaced a few times. The gas mileage is not what I expected it to be (it's lower than what you would think a small 5 cylinder truck would seem to get). It is a small truck and my next vehicle will probably be a car just to have more room.
Story
Not really, it gets me to work and back.
Pros
The look of the car is nice. I like the color. For the most part, it always starts.
Cons
The entire electronic system. The gas mileage. The exhaust manifold cracked after just a few years of owning it.
