The '02 Taurus is the best year for the model. In '03 they changed the steering wheel, making it more bulky. In my vehicle, the wheel fits my hand nicely and the cruise control buttons are well within reach. I prefer the cloth seating of the '02 versus the leather in later models, but also the earlier models had a different seat style that I do not prefer. The '02s layout makes it easier to use compared to the later models. All around the Taurus has performed amazingly well, with only minor annoyances than actual complaints about its design.
Story
I took a long trip out of town but was low on funds and couldn't afford a hotel, so I pulled into a parking lot around where I was going to visit. I climbed into the trunk and had enough space to set up a rather nice sleeping arrangement with pillows blankets and even my laptop o watch a movie on.
Pros
The trunk space is a definite plus in the '02 model. It's spacious enough to fit practically anything - I've had three old school TV's in there at once with room to spare. It has the trunk space of an SUV but also the handling and speed of a regular sedan. There have been very few parts besides general maintenance requirements that have needed to be serviced in the last 130,000 miles which is a big plus in anyone's book.
Cons
Though one of the downsides to this setup is the radio, the face plate of the radio makes it difficult and also expensive if the radio should fail or if you want to upgrade the system to include an auxiliary port or USB.

This car is as old as I am and still holds up. Its paint just started chipping this year. The odometer was turned over long before I ever got it. It's got constant leaks. But you know what? At the end of the day, it powers through all those problems to get me where I need to go. It's that kind of dependability and friendship that you need in a car. A car that's old enough its keys start falling apart but does the car stop? No. Does the key stop? No. I love this car.
Story
We have mountain roads around here. Sometimes, I just go driving for the roller-coaster feel of those hills.
Pros
This thing's got leather seats and rear window heating. It's too old to have that annoying tablet built into the center console, but my favorite feature from this car is the fact that I can never lock myself out. It's got keyless entry, which means I can always get in there if I just remember I need something but left my keys in the house. It also has a separate key to lock the trunk if you want to keep stuff back there while it's getting work done.
Cons
The headlights are in a really hard spot to replace, depending on who you are, it might just be a better option to take it into a mechanic and let them do it. It's that bad.

They worked within my budget by bringing down the loan amount. Also they got us in and out fast, and raised the amount for my trade-in value. About a week after I bought the car the sales associate that helped me buy the car gave me a call and asked how it was going with car and made sure I liked it.
