The 2005 Ford Taurus does exactly what you would expect it to. It drives, and it definitely is a car. This vehicle was designed for fleet purchasers, and if you rented a car sometime between 2005 and 2010 you've been in one of these. It doesn't accelerate particularly quickly, the suspension isn't very tight, the brakes aren't super fast, and the steering isn't super responsive. In fact, the driving experience could easily be described as "spongy". The caveat to all of this, though, is that is also neither unpleasant or bad. There's a stately gentility to driving this car--it's straight out of the family sedans and station wagons if a bygone age--and it's actually rather comfortable. Interestingly, like cars from that bygone age, the Taurus has some features like a bench front seat (wi... (more)
Story
I was taking the dog to the vet office, and she was sitting on the back seat. As we rounded the first turn I watched her laying down slide all the way front the back left to back right because of how slippery those seats are.
Pros
The car is very comfortable. It's kind of like driving a broken in couch. This car also has great stowage capacity, and a great passenger capacity. The front bench seat increases space to be enough for up to six people inside this lowly sedan--which is better than every other sedan on the market currently.
Cons
Every aspect of driving this car is soft and spongy. It lacks acceleration, brakes are slow, and steering is non-responsive. Each of these things on their own aren't really that bad--but in combination they're very noticeable. Additionally, the back seat is very slippery. I would not stow anything back there unless I could buckle it in, because it's going to slide around like crazy.

I bought this vehicle as a sophomore in high school (7 years ago) from my friend's grandmother. Since I purchased it, I've had little to no problems with it. The car is functional, and has a large trunk. I'm able to fit almost anything I need to into the trunk, and one of the seats in the back go down to extend the trunk. Additionally, it has a 6th seat in the front in between the driver and passenger. The break pads seem to wear off quickly, and the gas mileage is OK. I have never been involved in an accident, and if I did I feel I would be safe. The one thing I dislike about the car is that it doesn't look sporty. It looks like an older individuals car based on the frame and overall shape. The inside of the car is also pretty dated, it doesn't have too many additions or perks. Seats ... (more)
Story
I used my car and it's large trunk to transport a lawn mower to and from my relatives house when I would mow it in the summer. Which is a testament to it's versatility and ability to transport some unique things for a smaller car.
Pros
I liked how it was an American car which made repairs (the few that I made) pretty cheap. Additionally, I like that it has a lot of space and also had the ability to fit a 6th passenger in the front. The trunk is very large and allows me to fit almost anything I need to in it. The gas mileage has been good and the car allows me to accelerate pretty quickly.
Cons
The overall look is certainly a negative. The car isn't very sporty or sleek looking compared to most of the models that are out there today. I also dislike the interior of the car, it looks old and doesn't have many places in the front to store things such as money, wallet, phone, etc. The break pads wore out very fast.

They are not that great, but I have a fairly low opinion of most all dealerships. This dealership was acceptable at best because of the low price of our escape with the cash for clunkers deal going on at the time.
