2002 Ford Taurus - Great vehicle for a family of six
I loved how I was able to fit my family and our stuff in the vehicle. It was a great gas saver. I had good air. I loved that car.
Story
We took a road trip to Chicago and was out of only 60 in gas. My kids weren't lapped up on each other. The radio played well. We had fun playing I Spy. We also were able to take ample clothes and toys. The tea compartments held out snack tablets. A great family car.
Pros
Third-row seat, roomy cold air and hot heat. Great gas saver.
Cons
Alternator kept going out.
2006 Ford Taurus - Pretty good car.
Overall I would say that its a nice car, it drives quite smoothly and comfortably and has decent power when you need it and it brakes quite well. It has a nice design that probably will never look out dated. After 300k miles it hasn't needed any expensive repairs, the only serious repair that it's needed was a new power steering pump which was less than $200 in total, though the power steering is quite loud now at steep steering angles. It has leather interior, comfy seats, and lots of leg room in the front and back, decent sized trunk for all of your storage and transportation needs.
Pros
It looks nice, it won't look outdated anytime soon. Leather interior, which is always a nice thing. It has decent power, when you need it to get up and go it will go. There's a lot of leg room which is nice when you are tall, I always take it for granted until I have to drive someone else's little midget car.
Cons
There's no AUX port so you're stuck with CD's or the radio for music. The gas mileage isn't great, the 3L engine is overkill for anything this car will ever be used for. No Bluetooth, so no smartphone connectivity, but that's not really expected in an older car. The turning radius could always be a little bit better. No full sized spare, just a little donut tire that's probably not safe to even drive on.
