The Ford Taurus is a solid choice for the drivers who are in the market for a large sedan. Its comfortable ride and exceptional crash protection makes it a recommended choice for families. When equipped with the optional AWD system, the Taurus becomes a dependable performer on snow-packed roads. Check out the powerful SHO model if you yearn for a more engaging driving experience.
Story
Not the best-handling large Sedan. The 2017 Ford Taurus excels at delivering a smooth ride. However, it is not known for being the most nimble car on curvy roads. Although a sports-tuned suspension is available, the Taurus is still not a true sports sedan. The Dodge Charger R/T handles the road with a bit more poise. Standard steering system does not provide much feedback. The standard steerin... (more)
Pros
Strong base engine. Although a more efficient four-cylinder engine is optional, most drivers will be happy with the base V-6 engine. It pumps out a satisfying 288 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission comes standard. With a competitive 0-60 time of 6.6 seconds, the V-6 Taurus can easily keep pace with its rivals. Gas mileage tops out at 28 mpg. Available AWD system. A front-wheel drive setup comes standard on the 2017 Ford Taurus. However, the AWD system is a must for the drivers who must travel in wintry weather. It also gives you better traction in t... (more)

If you desire a greater sense of control, opt for the SHO performance package. So-so outward visibility. ... (more)

I previously owned a smaller car so I'm a bit conflicted on the size. Driving-wise I find it a bit too large for my tastes. That said, it's nice to have the room for shopping trips. I wish we had the ability to knock down the back seats to have even more room for larger items. For instance, right now we're looking into buying a 55" television, and I don't think it will fit in the car, which is a pain. We might have been able to fit it in if we could knock down those seats. Otherwise the car's fine. We've had to put in about $3,000 since we got it, which has been a pain. The blower for the AC went, and we had to replace a bunch of stuff. I don't know what system of the car you would call it, but it involved rotors, tie rods, etc. The brakes were replaced and some other things that I jus... (more)
Story
The parking brake got stuck and made this horrendous noise. It was awful.
Pros
The size is nice for shopping trips, and it's comfortable to sit in.
Cons
The size is also a negative for me. Driving a big car can feel intimidating at times on the road. I think it probably had a few too many maintenance issues, but what do you want in a nearly 20-year-old car?
