This machine has held up exceptionally well. It still looks great and runs well. The V6 is powerful enough to do what it needs to do and still gets around 20 MPG. The automatic is smooth and shifts at the right places. The drivability is excellent. Sure footed and stable even at 90 MPH. (I've only driven that fast a couple of times.) Visibility is excellent. It's still totally solid after all these years. No rattles or other major signs of age.
Story
I drove from Eugene, OR to Orcas Island, WA and back. It handled the trip with aplomb and comfort. Pleasantly surprising for an old pickup.
Pros
Very easy to drive and park. Decent mileage and performance for its age. It has a long bed, so I can fit in a full size couch and close the tailgate. It performs with a full load about as well as it does empty. It also goes over curbs, which is very handy sometimes. It only cost me $1000, and has paid for itself by the jobs I've gotten as a result of owing it.
Cons
It's a bit too narrow. Fitting three people in the cab is quite a squeeze, and a full size sheet of plywood can't lay flat in the bed. When changing the spark plugs I found that one of them was impossible for me to remove. I have a mechanic friend who was able to get in there with his special flexible ratchet.

This small truck is sturdy, reliable and always always starts right up. Nearly all the mechanical parts are in great condition, I've only had the clutch replaced, and wow did that make a difference. Its got power to go up steep hills. It is not a truck with electronic parts, not electric powered windows or steering. It is just a great basic model truck that is truly the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.
Story
The best thing about this truck is even though I live right near the coast, this truck has not gotten rusty. I appreciate that.
Pros
Reliability. Rarely has a mechanical failure. It is very cute and gets a lot of compliments and it is 18 years old!
Cons
The top negative things about my truck are some of the cab interior plastic parts have broken and are difficult to replace/fix. The interior light is a bust and the armrest/console the latch broke so it is always open. Somehow dirt got inside the dial/gauge dash and there seems to be no way to open that to clean it.
