The 2001 Ford Fusion is a decent car with a comfortable and confident ride that makes it perfectly suited for everyday driving. The standard engine is lacking, but several turbocharged options are available that provide more power. The Fusion’s fuel economy, however, will likely be among the worst in the class, so be prepared to fill up more often than you would with other cars. The Fusion's interior is spacious and comfortable, and it has a bigger trunk than most of its rivals. While it's sparse on standard features, the Fusion's optional touchscreen infotainment system works well and features cool functions like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. High-quality materials adorn the cabin, especially in higher trims, but there are still some low-rent surfaces in most Fusion models.
Story
Being a practical car, I enjoy taking it on country drives. One day while driving to Outerbanks, we saw someone in need on the side of the road. I decided to help, and it turned out to be one of our local anchor men from TV. I was very excited and happy to be able to assist him. He even mentioned me on TV that day.
Pros
There is no predicted reliability data yet for the 2001 Ford Fusion, but the nearly identical 2017 model received an above-average score of 3.5 out of five from J.D. Power and Associates. Nearly all midsize cars earn an above-average rating for predicted reliability, and that holds true for the Fusion's top rivals. The 2001 Toyota Camry earns a perfect (and rare) score of five out of five, while the 2001 Honda Accord is still impressive at four out of five. Reliability is a little worse in the compact cars class, including the Ford Focus and its below-average 2.5 rating. Ford backs the Fus... (more)
Cons
Though the 2001 Ford Fusion is a solid car, it’s only average compared to its higher-ranked class rivals. The Fusion’s base engine lacks power; any one of several turbocharged options is a better bet. It’s a decent car, but you can do better.
