2014 Ford Focus - Cheap and sound
I like the color scheme (black on black) of the car, as well as many of the interior aesthetics. The exterior aesthetics are okay, but have been better in previous and more recent models. The car drives exceptionally well for an economy car and has a manual transmission, which is great when I'm driving through the mountains.
Story
I take it to and from Big Bear and Mammoth for snowboarding throughout each winter. It is great for longer trips as it's good on mileage and has an excellent sound system.
Pros
The shifter is buttery smooth, and the clutch is still completely solid after over 40k miles. I am known to drive my cars faster/harder than average, and my focus has stood up well to the task. The steering is very tight, it almost feels like you are driving a rally car. This is great when I'm going up and down the mountain on snowboard trips.
Cons
The car has no power. It is lightweight but packs an engine shy of 2L. The stereo on it (Ford SYNC) is a complete crapout. I've had to take it to the dealer four times to have the stereo fixed (under warranty) and they refused to replace anything. Better off with a cheap aftermarket Bluetooth stereo.
2015 Ford Focus - Good value compact hatchback.
The 2015 Ford Focus ES Hatchback is a nice little car and probably the best value hatchback at its price point. The car looks sleek, handles beautifully, and has decent power.
Story
My favorite thing to do in this car is drive the mountains. It handles so nicely and takes turns so tightly. I've offered to drive when going snowboarding just so I can drive my car.
Pros
The car is aesthetically pleasing and has beautiful lines all around. It handles like no other, making the car feel snappy and nimble. The sports package comes with alloy rims and fog lights, and Bluetooth and Sirius are standard. Its bigger on the inside than one would think, and has a decent amount of storage space. Car also has decent top end power. Price is good. FWD but handles great in the snow and hills.
Cons
The interior of the car feels like cheap plastic and rattles from time to time. The car also has no low end power--you have to get the rpm up to really go. Mileage is nothing to brag about, but that's also partly due to the driver.
