The Great Ocean Road was the highlight of our Victoria trip. The drive turned out to be longer than expected, but we were very fortunate to do it on a cloudless sunny day. Unlike most other visitors, we decided to drive from Warrnambool and finish the trip in Geelong. This way, we were able to start with --and spend more time at -- the three most memorable sights: Razorback, Loch Ard Gorge, and the 12 Apostles. The stretch leading to Apollo Bay was full of bends, quite hilly and somewhat tiring. After a very nice meal at Iluka Cafe and refueling at the Mobil Station in Apollo Bay, we took to the first--for us, the last-- stretch of the GOR. We were glad to finish the drive on this rather narrow and winding segment, just as darkness fell. We had a LPG-fuelled rental car with no EZ Pass for tolls. So we took care to find out about the new "ticket-less" Toll stretch of the Freeway outside Melbourne. And we also sought help from the friendly locals when filling up with LPG at the pumps. (We found using the LPG costs less than the petroleum fuel we are used to).

My favorite story with my car was actually a bad one! My boyfriend and I drove my car down to the Lake of the Ozarks, about three hours from home, and while we were there, he proposed! After leaving the proposal site, we were in the car on the phone with his parents when my tire popped! Luckily, this car comes with a spare. And luckily, I have an awesome and fun-loving fiancé who didn't mind changing a tire in the heat less than 20 minutes after proposing!
