I bought this car used for $1,000 with 144,000 miles on it. I have had this car for two years now and have run it ragged and it has not failed on me yet. I have encountered no break-downs, no noises, and have only raves about what a good car I got for $1,000 dollars. I actually have never liked Fords but this car is sleek, sporty, and well designed. The only design flaw it has it that there is no arm rest in between the driver's seat and passenger seat. That and the way the driver's seat has worn down are my only complaints so far. The seat has become uncomfortable over the years. There is a hard portion of the chair's frame that is protruding into my body in the seat portion and the back portion due to the cushions getting more deflated with time. The car is a stick shift and not havi... (more)
Story
I have a great time every weekend cruising around Ft. Bragg North Carolina. My weekends are why I keep driving on and give me my will to live. Having a reliable car to take me to my husband every weekend is worth a million dollars let alone $1,000.
Pros
The dependability first and foremost. It now has 176,000 miles on it and still is going strong. I have put 32,000 miles on this car in two years cause I travel a whole lot for work and to see my husband he is in the military and I live four days part of the week in Tennessee and the other three days, usually the weekends, in North Carolina 45 minutes from the coast. I have been making this commute and been living in this way for two and a half years and found a car to take the abuse. I love how sporty and stylish the car is for being so old the style is still in it does not look dated at ... (more)
Cons
The only problem the car has asides from the seat wearing badly and no middle arm rest is the fact that the electronic display and dashboard lights have stopped working all together. I simply bought a light that hooks to the car cigarette lighter to illuminate the speedometer, fuel gauge, and the other dashboard items displayed. This is inconvenient and have been told it would be costly to repair. You have to manually turn on the external lights I have illuminating the dashboard gauges and remember to turn it off when you have parked and are done with the car. I have forgot to turn them of... The car functions as a car should.
Story
I enjoyed driving on vacation up north with a friend in this vehicle, but that's about it.
Pros
The vehicle manages to get me where I need to go, and I am able to modify things in the interior for my needs. I have not yet, but the lack of complicated features means I can modify it easily.
Cons
It gets me from home to where I need to go. It is not a car that I can trust for a long trip though. The user manual also lacks certain information I would like to see, such as how much power the DC outlet provides. The manual only states the physical size of the fuse that can be placed on the line, not what fuse I should use (20 amp, 10 amp?) This is a bit of a safety concern if I put in a fuse with too high of a rating. The air intake is located in the drivers side wheel well. The air intake also has a bucket with a hole at the bottom to prevent water from going up through the air int... (more)

The Focus received a five-star safety rating out of five from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in all categories except rollover protection, in which it scored four stars. The new Focus updates have created a solid, quiet car to drive. Thicker front door glass and additional insulation make the car extremely quiet. They create a whining drone on asphalt at any speed above 40 mph. Loud enough to wonder if there's something wrong with how they're wearing. As for safety systems, the Focus has some of the most advanced features in its class, with optional items like lane keeping assist, hands-free parallel and perpendicular parking, and blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. A backup camera is standard. It got 5 stars in overall ratings. The estimated costs for... (more)
Story
The sunroof option is wonderful on a hot summer's day. It is great to zip around town.
Pros
The brakes are strong and the steering is direct and has good feedback through a nice thick steering wheel. The Focus feels athletic and capable and handles very well. The Focus feels far more substantial than a Toyota Corolla, which feels cheap and tiny by comparison. And while appearing slightly more spacious thanks to its more upright dashboard, the Corolla, with its lazy steering, droning continuously variable automatic transmission and cushy ride, isn't half the athlete the Focus is. This car excels at great speed and an engines that feel more powerful. None of the Focus' competitors ... (more)
Cons
It seems there have been complaints about the transmission misfiring on some models. But after review, they are still having the transmission problems. Other than the transmission problem, the rest of the car has been performing great. Although the Focus isn't packaged with quite the level of space-efficiency as some models in its class, it's a rather roomy, versatile, and refined small car. The only thing that we see as a flaw is the overly styled instrument panel layout, which detracts from front seat space and usefulness, although Ford has upgraded switch gear and trims and reconfigured...
