Ford Five Hundred Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Ford Five Hundred - Family car
The Ford Five Hundred is a great family car. The cabin is roomy and the leather seats make it easy to clean. It has the feel of a big car, but drives like a midsize sedan. There is an abundance of storage space and two plugins for cell phones. The backseat has its own air conditioner vent and the front seat has controls on both the passenger and driver side for ultimate comfort. The radio/cd player holds 6 cd's and it has a great factory installed speaker system.
Some of the problems I have seen with this car is that the side mirrors tend to cause blind spots if you are short. The doors are also pretty heavy if you have little ones.
Story
One memorable thing about this car is being able to take my son and his friends to a variety of places comfortably. I never felt cramped in the car even when every chair was taken.
Pros
My favorite aspect of this car is how well it handles on ice and snow. I never even slid once when driving in adverse conditions. The car is heavy and has front wheel drive which makes it easy to handle. I also liked the outside key pad on the door because it make it easy to unlock the door. Also, I could lock the keys in the car when I wanted to walk at the park and didn't have to worry about carrying them with me. It also makes it virtually impossible to lock your keys in the car. The seats are comfortable and easy to adjust. The seats lay for forward if you need extra trunk room which i... (more)
Cons
One of the negatives is that the side mirrors tend to cause blind spots for a short driver. Also, when it's hot outside and you run the air conditioner much it seems to drink gas. The fan on the air conditioner and heater also run really loud and has since I purchased it ten years ago. This is not a good car if you are looking for a small economical sedan. Also, unlike many cars of its size, it only seats five people. The front console does not fold down. Plus, since it's getting up there in years, it is not mp3 compatible.
2006 Ford Five Hundred - It was decent for the cost, but if I had more options I would not have chosen it.
The car is fairly large, which makes parking sometimes difficult. The gas mileage is about average - I would have preferred a car with better than average gas mileage, and would have happily sacrificed size for improved fuel usage. It performs well for my basic needs, which is to travel to and from some cities on occasion and drive around the city. I haven't had any particular performance issues outside of a recent problem with the fuel pump, which some reviews indicate is a common problem with this car.
Story
My friend and I drove the car down a highway listening to music loudly on my CD player with the windows down, singing along with no issue. No need to stop for gas because the fuel tank is huge, the CD player is loud enough to hear even with windows open at high speeds.
Pros
The car drives smoothly. It doesn't make much sound. The back seat flips down, which expands the already large trunk significantly when transporting, something that is fairly unusual for standard cars. It has lasted well through a couple accidents. The seats are adjustable enough. The back seat is spacious and not uncomfortable to sit in at all, which is also unusual in cars. There is plenty of ventilation in the car.
Cons
The seats are leather, so they get extremely hot. The fuel pump recently needed to be replaced, which was apparently a common problem with this model car. There is no aux input, which is also unusual given that it was made in 2006, so the only way to listen to your own music is to use a Bluetooth speaker or to burn CDs. The gas mileage was average, and I would have preferred better gas mileage. There are strange crooks in the trunk that imply that there is more space, but mostly just get things caught in it.
2005 Ford Five Hundred - Okay but not great.
I purchased my 2005 Ford 500 pre-owned, with only 120,000 miles on it. Upon getting this vehicle, I have had to replace both front sway bars, the alternator, and the inner and outer ti-rod on one side. (The vehicle is now at 144,000 miles - I've owned the car for a little over 2 years). I'm aware that there is another issue with the car's suspension that I've been putting off repairs for. I honestly feel like the car has just had issue after issue, though after some time on Google apparently suspension is a common issue with this make/model of car.
The car also has an electrical issue somewhere in it's system that causes the battery to drain - and require a jump start if the car hasn't been driven in 3+ days or so. (I drive almost every day, so this was only an issue once, but still.... (more)
Story
I drive this vehicle everywhere I go, so I have many good memories, as it takes me pretty much everywhere. I remember my first date with my husband. Nothing fancy, just a movie and dinner, but it was very special to me.
Pros
Smooth ride. Heated seats. Sun roof. Nice leather interior. Large trunk.
Cons
Constant repairs. Suspension issues. Electrical issue.
