1997 Ford F-150 - The all rounder
My Ford truck is my perfect truck. The overall quality of the truck is amazing. For instance, the interior is very roomy. My truck has couch seating with a console located in between that folds up to complete the couch seating. The only thing I don't like is where the 4x4 transform stick is located. It's located right underneath the legs of where the third person would be sitting, making it hard to slide out or in to that seating position. The performance of the vehicle I have no complaints about. It is a 4.6 V8 with an aftermarket cold air intake, so I get plenty of power for when I need to get up hills or pull something. It does, however, shift a little rough now, so I suppose that's my only dislike.
Pros
My favorite thing about this vehicle is the room. The interior is very roomy and comfortable, and the engine well is very open perfect for working on it. The 4x4 mode has a high and low range, which is very nice as well as it makes it very fun during the winter when I need more low-end power.
Cons
The bed of the truck is very small. It's only a six foot, making it very hard to carry lumber. The dash is also kind of far away from the driver's side, making it hard to see for smaller drivers.
2001 Ford F-150 - Excellent for Rural Life
I live in a rural Northwest place where I drive daily on gravel roads, across hilly fields during hunting season, and over backroads for morel hunting, camping, and fishing. My F150 takes me there, guaranteed. I love the solid feeling of metal that it surrounds me with. I love its durability as it takes on snow, gravel, potholes, dirt roads, wheat fields and more. I never hear a groan or a squeal from it. Just total power across the outdoor roads I live on.
Story
I came around a local corner during the winter and saw five vehicles sitting in the road, stuck...cars going both north and south. I zig zagged in and out of them, got to the front, pulled out rope/chain tows and began towing people out of the drift. I'm female and as feminine as can be. I had some men hanging onto me -- scared as could be. I was glad to help.
Pros
I have never met a back road that it did not take to like a purring cat. In fact, I swear it says "Give me more, please." I feel safe in this truck. There's enough clearance beneath it to deal with off-road travel. There's a great ride in places where other vehicles would whimper. I love its tough solid feeling.
Cons
On heavy, heavy snowy roads I need to fill the back end with bags of sand or the tail will flim flam. I usually do not drive it on roads during the winter. It's a backcountry vehicle for me.
