2016 Ford F-150 - I love it
I got the most basic of F150s with virtually no options. It's my first automatic, and that's pleasant. The fuel mileage is great. I've had no difficulties with it whatsoever. It rides smooth, and the interior design is much improved from my previous (2000) model.
Story
I don't know how fun or memorable this is, but after driving the same old beat-up truck for almost 20 years, no one can believe I finally sprang for a new one.
Pros
Color (the forest green), and it looks sharp. The headlight grill configuration looks cool...was the first thing I saw. Interior is well designed—lots of space to put those things that you always need to keep in the cab. Fuel mileage is great. Power when I need it, though that's not often. Sound is really good, for a stock system. Plenty of legroom. I love the new style headlights that figure out for themselves if they should be on or not. The headrests are aligned so they actually work as headrests that you can use while driving, instead of just being whiplash preventers.
Cons
The only real negative is that the most basic sound system requires that an MP3 player, or your phone need to be plugged into the truck, via the sound system. If you have an in-cab green or blue light, they don't sit well on the dash, although that's not much of a consideration, if you're not volunteer fire or EMS.
2000 Ford F-150 - Very satisfied with my purchase
This is a stock F150, manual transmission, no air, manual windows. The truck has served me well since 1999... no major repairs in that entire time. It's a little light for winter driving, but there are cable "chains" available that are easy to put on and take off.
I would buy an F150 again. I am, in fact, in the process of buying another one now.
Story
this truck taught each of my children to drive a stick shift....and the pain and suffering and grinding they put this poor truck through speaks to what a congenial and patient friend its been to our family.
Pros
Low maintenance cost over the life of the vehicle is huge. It just keeps going and going… 17 years now.
I treat it horrible. I've never washed it. I run it hard (I'm an volunteer EMT) a couple times a week. It never complains.
Cons
A little too light in the winter… hard to get good traction without the cables on the tires.
If I had to do it again I'd get power windows and maybe A/C.
