Ford F-150 Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2003 Ford F-150 - Great dependable work truck.
I have a 2003 Ford F150 4x4 that is white in color. It has been an excellent work truck for many years. It has been dependable with nothing major occurring while driven over 128,000 miles. It has been used on a farm and also for a drive into the city. I love every part of it. If I could clone it I would. There has never been a truck better than an F150 and this truck is a prime example of the brand. Anyone who wants a hard working, long lasting, adventurous vehicle should buy an F150 pronto.
Story
I hauled a load of wood with my brother a couple of months before he passed away. It is a fond memory I will always have about the truck, even though it is sad he is gone.
Pros
The best thing is the longevity with little down time. We have not had any major expense in the years we have owned it. The mileage is also good for an older truck at about 20mpg. The truck pulls really well in the mud for the hard jobs on the farm. The truck can easily haul well over a ton of material in the bed without a hiccup. It can also pull an extremely heavy load on a trailer.
Cons
The only con is that it is not an XLT. However, it would not work as well for farm life if it was fancier inside. The LX package would disappoint some who never use a truck off-road.
1999 Ford F-150 - Definitely built Ford tough.
My 1999 Ford F-150 extended cab has a 5.4 liter engine with XLT package. It has approximately 198,000 miles of which I have places 75,000 miles over the 3 plus years that I have owned it. Despite its age, the electronic components work great. The power train is in good shape and has not required any maintenance. The engine and tranny are original and have great performance other than it burning a little oil as it has aged. I have been pleased with the mileage as well. I have had to do very little to it other than normal maintenance. I even hall a large zero turn riding mower in the truck bed from time to time, which saves having to use a trailer.
Story
I carried a group of goats in the bed for many miles to deliver them to my daughter. I had a lot of onlookers!
Pros
The reliability with very little maintenance is awesome. It has worked much better than other vehicles I have used in my work. It still starts up right away and has plenty of power. It works really well to pull a trailer and power is not sacrificed. I also like the extended cab for placing things in the back seat in case of rain. It is also very easy to drive.
Cons
I guess if you want to nit-pick an 18-year-old truck, you could complain about the cloth seats wearing a few wholes in them. This is all I can think of.
