My purchase of the 2006 Ford-F-150 was one of the best decisions I've made in years. The quality of the car is incredible and in the six years that I have owned the vehicle it has needed only minor repairs and maintenance. The interior is spacious and this is the first vehicle that my fiancé (who is 6'2") has been able to drive comfortably. There's enough leg room to be comfortable on long trips, and the sound system that came with the vehicle is enjoyable. The bed of the truck is large enough to accommodate a small tent, and has now become my preferred type of camping! This is a reliable vehicle for daily use, as well as a great travel vehicle.
Story
Going camping has always been one of my favorite things to do, and I was skeptical about using a tent that could fit on the back of our truck. However, now it's the only way we camp! We have a blast going down to the lake and camping on the beach. Then at night you get to crawl up into a tent in the back of your truck, and it's warmer than sleeping on the ground.
Pros
The large truck bed, spacious interior, high safety rating, and towing power of the 2006 Ford-F-150 are all things that I enjoy. The four wheel drive is incredible during the snowy winter, and provides a great deal more safety when traveling during the harsh winter months.
Cons
The 2006-F-150 is a larger vehicle that has lower gas mileage than some other vehicles. The standard bed lining that comes with the vehicle is easily scratched and torn. If you're going to be using the back of the truck often then another liner would need to be considered.

I purchased the crew cab model with the intent of using it as a hunting and family vehicle. It's been great for these purposes, and as a daily driver.
Story
The first week I had the pickup we went pheasant hunting, and decided to drive through some snow drifts. The factory tires didn't fare well in the snow, so I got it stuck 2 miles from anywhere and had to pull it out with a tractor.
Pros
The vehicle rides very well, and has a comfortable interior. There is plenty of leg room in both front and rear seats, and I can fit comfortably anywhere even though I'm 6'5". Very quiet ride as factory-equipped.
Cons
Fuel mileage is slightly lower than advertised at around 14 mpg. The 5.4L engine in this generation feels like a ticking time bomb. You can do a Google search about this engine and will come up with any number of problems. I made it past changing the 2-piece spark plugs that have a tendency to get stuck in the engine head, but seem to have a slight hesitation since. The oil gets too thin when it's hot out, and shudders and sounds like a diesel at idle after pulling a trailer. I hate the factory wheels and their plastic hub caps that you have to remove to get at lug nuts. The rear cab corne... (more)
