The Ford Explorer XLT is a very spacious vehicle. With its three rows of seating you are able to get 6-8 people in it. The cargo area is vast and allows for carrying all kinds of items, it's even big enough for us to pack our 2 kids, 2 dogs, and body boarding gear for a day at the beach. With its V6 engine, it has the get up and go you desire while hauling boats, trailers, or campers. Winter months are no match for the AWD even in New England where winters can have feet of snow. Traction control can be changed with the turn of a dial and has a variety of options including mud, hills and slick roads. The driver's controls are all within reach, even for a 5 foot tall person like myself. Having driven an Escape for 10 years I was very nervous about moving up in size, but the handling... (more)
Story
a few months back we were able to take our 80 year old mother to the ocean for the first time since we had room for 6, everyone could see the joy on her face.
Pros
There is a great deal of interior room. At no point in time does anyone riding in this car feel cramped or uncomfortable. The three zone climate control allows for driver, passenger, and backseat to all have varied temperatures. The entertainment system has smooth sound and is top notch with a visual control display and driver steering wheel controls. If I had to do it again I would absolutely lease this car again, and again, and again. Traction control can be automated or manually controlled. The third row seating is fold down so you can pick and choose the configuration you ne... (more)
Cons
Negative things are hard to come by in this car. Being short, I find using the top rack hard to do. We are avid surfers and getting boards up there can be a challenge. But I will say that we hauled a full size mattress and box spring with ease. Sometimes in the driver's seat I can actually feel that here is too much room, go figure. Reaching across the car can also be a challenge, to get things in the glove box from the drivers seat. While I have yet to need it, the spare tire is located in a place where if you had to get to it you might be faced with a challenge. When the third r... (more)

The Ford Explorer XLT has seating for up to seven people and extra cargo space in the back. The navigation system is MyFordTouch, and the kinks have finally been worked out of it. Bluetooth connectivity has been improved over the 2013 model, and the navigation system is pretty much flawless. It comes with the option for heated/cooled seats, and the heated seats are amazing. It also has the option for the moon roof which is a double moon roof that has a half slide open. The interior is nicely outfitted with the option for leather. The dash is setup nicely with everything you would need right where you want it. Front end sits a little low and can catch on curbs. Mine came with tires that have worn out rather quickly, so prepare yourself for that. As far as the gas mileage, it is... (more)
Story
We decided to take a trip to Arkansas after Christmas in 2016. As we headed out, our dogs tried to climb over into the second row of seats. This kept happening over and over. I found basically what I would call a jail for them online thru Amazon. I ordered it, and the installation was very easy. It works with tension rods and kept the dogs at bay for the entire trip up to Arkansas. On th... (more)
