2011 Ford Explorer - Good family car for all traveling.
I love the V6, it gives me the get up and go without killing the gas tank. It is roomy and the materials are easy to keep clean. I love the convenience of separate controls for everyone in the car. I have had several issues with clips and molding around the windshield.
Story
I am the only person in my area that has a red face grill that matches the car. All others have a chrome or aluminum grill.
Pros
Navigation and display are helpful and easy to use. Mirrors easy fold is convenient for drive-thrus. Love the individual climate control options and the seat heater/coolers. The push button trunk lift is awesome. Not having to take my keys out of my purse. Easy pull handles for folding middle row seats and buttons for the rear.
Cons
Not enough leg room for back passenger if person driving is tall and seat is positioned furthermost back. If a tire pressure sensor goes out, the warning display does not indicate which tire like with the actual tire pressure. Delay on closing tailgate is a little slow, at night alone I don't want to have to wait for it to close. If connected to a phone, Bluetoothing music and using navigation, it will glitch out and you will have to reset the SD card.
2001 Ford Explorer - Satisfied owner
I have had my vehicle for 11 years. I purchased my Explorer as a used vehicle in 2006, and it hasn't failed me yet. With over 250,000 miles, I have just now began to encounter the need for more heavy duty repairs. I love the size and space of my vehicle as well as the overall style. The exterior style of the car isn't boxy or chunky. It has a sleek look and high power (v8-engine).
Story
One of my favorite memories in my car was at the end of college. I was moving from my campus apartment to my own apartment and didn't have extra money for a rental truck. I was able to lower my seats and fit two queen mattresses, headboard, and bookshelves in one trip.
Pros
My favorite features of the car are the leather seats, heated seats, and sunroof. There is ample seating for passengers as well. The Explorer is a nice-sized vehicle that seats six passengers with ample room.
Cons
My biggest complaint about the vehicle is the gas mileage around town. When traveling between college and home in different states it was perfect. However, now that I am living in a traffic heavy city, the gas mileage is a bit of a let down.
