My Ford Explorer has been incredibly reliable. It is a large vehicle, similar to a truck, which definitely comes in handy for all sorts of tasks from running errands to moving furniture. The vehicle is large enough and sturdy enough so that I feel safe on the road. It also handles really well and is incredibly easy to drive and maneuver on the road. This vehicle also has really low maintenance, even for being a slightly older option—there have not been many issues with the vehicle besides regular maintenance. This has been an incredibly high-quality car for the money. I would highly recommend owning a car like this one.
Story
I live in a big city with limited parking, I definitely wasn't thinking about all the parallel parking I would need to do. It was quite the learning curve!
Pros
My favorite features of this vehicle are the leather seats that have seat warmers included. I also really love the back-up sensors on the vehicle. It makes it way easier to parallel park and maneuver a large car in the city. Another great feature of this car is the space for hauling items. The seats fold down as well for even greater storage capacity. It definitely comes in handy.
Cons
A major con for owning this vehicle is the gas mileage. At this point, it gets about 14 miles per gallon—a little more on the highway, but it evens out to 14 miles per gallon. The car can also be a bit bouncy and rides like a truck. It's not as comfortable as a smaller car might be.

1994 Ford Explorer - Trusty old beater with a heater, excellent for cross-country road trips!

I have heard people joke about Ford meaning "Found on Road Dead", but that simply has not been the case for my trusty old Explorer. I have driven my Explorer about 55K miles, through 29 states, and it has never once left me stranded. The engine is solid and responsive, and runs like a champ. It has decent clearance so it can be taken on most old forest service roads or beat up old red dirt roads without scraping the undercarriage. I personally prefer the more boxy body style to that of newer more rounded looking SUVs. There is plenty of cargo space, which is always a plus. It even manages to get about 20 mpg on the highway, which is pretty impressive for an older V6 SUV!
Story
I spent four months on a cross-country road trip with my dog in my Explorer. We mostly "lived" in the car, often car camping in National Forests and BLM Land. It was an amazing experience, in part due to the fact that my Explorer never once left me stranded anywhere.
Pros
Dependable, decent clearance, plenty of space.
Cons
Spark plugs are incredibly difficult to get to making DIY tune-ups a pain, transmission is known to have some failure issues.
