The Explorer is a well-built vehicle. I have had the truck for going on 12 years, and it still runs well and looks great. Part of this is due to the pride I take in maintaining it. The Explorer is roomy and well equipped. It rides well and is comfortable on long trips.
Story
Taking the Explorer to Nashville was a lot of fun. Plenty of room for snacks and drinks.
Pros
The Explorer has lots of room in the front driver and passenger seat area. The controls are easy to use and have held up well. The leather seats also have help up well. It has a third row seat option that is great for when your transporting a large group of people. The 17-inch tires look great as well.
Cons
My biggest con is how loud the engine is and not in a good way. The 4.0L V6 struggles to pull this heavy truck along. The engine noise is loud for no good reason. The other con is the quality of Ford transmissions. The transmission had to be replaced around 100,000 miles which is common for Fords. Another con is how little truck room there is when the third row seat is up. It makes taking the truck on road trips challenging.

The Ford Explorer is one of the best cars I have ever owned. I bought this car new and did not have any problems with it for the first several years of ownership. It's a versatile car that has served me well. It is easy to handle as it has a smaller turning radius than a truck.
Story
This vehicle is great to take to take to the drive in movie, because we can back in and open the tailgate. There is plenty of room for a group to lay in the back and watch the movies.
Pros
The main reason I love this vehicle is because it's so versatile. I can carry 7 passengers, or I can put the seats down and have an expansive cargo area. The gear shift on the steering column also offers plenty of space in the front seat. The 4-wheel drive feature is great for driving in snow or sand and for towing.
Cons
After 14 years, I did have to have the transmission replaced, but the original transmission lasted 160,000 miles. I have also had issues with the rear bearings and struts beginning about 120,000 miles.
