While I enjoy driving the Explorer, it didn't age well. It currently has 100,000 miles and has been garage-kept for the length of ownership. We are having a host of issues including electrical, which has caused the engine to shut off while driving.
Story
Driving to a concert in an ice storm. Not being sure if we would make it home, but the Explorer handled it great.
Pros
Drives well in snow.
Cons
Electrical issues.

Bought this car for less than 2000. I've been driving it for several years with minimal issue. All repairs have been basic wear and tear. The most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.
Story
I was able to get 5 people home from work in a blizzard when their cars would not have safely made the trips.
Pros
Reliable. Safe, great in winter weather.
Cons
Gas mileage is terrible.
