I love my Explorer, at 44, I don't think I will ever purchase any other models. My daughter and I fell safe going places and is a comfortable way to drive. I have never given a name to a vehicle since we got our "Jessie" everything and everyone fit in it.
Story
I was a couple of minutes late picking up my daughter in school and, as soon as I turned the corner all her little friend started to scream "There's Jessie and your mom!"
Pros
It is very comfortable to drive, is heavy and reliable in the snow and nice and breezy in the summer with the sunroof. This SUV is such a good car that I had the car inspector (they are moody people) saying "what a gem", is like driving your own couch. Family trips, shopping for groceries or simply taking the dog for a ride is way easier (we have a great Dane)
Cons
The gas, if you fill it up is over 50 dollars. The color, is black and gold, shows that it is "dirty" a day after you wash.

2008 Ford Explorer - Great for those that experience severe winter months.

Great SUV for those who experience extended periods of inclement weather. The ability to select several options for four-wheel drive when needed helps a great deal during slippery conditions for drive control. The dashboard notifies you of slippery roads. It's a perfect-sized SUV. It's not too big yet not too small, which would be perfect for first-time SUV buyers. Which makes transitioning from a car to an SUV smooth sailing and easy to handle. You won't feel like you're driving a bus. Exterior wise, it's mediocre in appearance. Certainly not a vehicle to write home about.
Story
During the winter my husband and I were driving to the grocery store, and we literally slid down a slope in route. We ended up one inch literally from a truck that was unpacking inventory for the store. We attribute the sudden stop to an act of God and the great four-wheel drive this vehicle provides.
Pros
The top positive things about the vehicle would be that it's spacious. It's ideal for family traveling yet not too large. The ability to lower the third-row seats works wonders when needing to haul somethings. Perfect for when moving. My husband and I moved out of our apartment using our Ford Explorer alone, without having to rent a U-Haul or any additional moving services. My all time favorite feature is the reserved gas tank. It has saved me from running out of gas on numerous occasions. You literally get over 30 miles once the tank is on E.
Cons
The top negative things about the 2008 Ford Explorer is the fact that the interior is very basic. It would be much nicer if even some of the features were enhanced. For it to be a 2008 vehicle, I believe more options should have been provided. The inside also could be a bit more sleek. It's a bit too sporty, yet it's the not the sport model of this vehicle. Most vehicles of this model begin to rust a great deal due to inclement weather. Since the car is white, the rust is very noticeable. I've noticed this same issue with other people who drive this same car.
