This vehicle is built tough! It is a '98 so it has close to 200k miles on it but it still runs like it's new! It's not the most eco-friendly SUV on the market (by far) but for it's age it goes over bumps like they aren't even there! The interior is still in great condition! Really seems to be "Built FORD Tough" Downside, this car has a lot of slight mechanical errors as I have found, but they are usually inexpensive and quick fixes, usually those you can do yourself. Trust me, if I can do it with my busy schedule as a full time mom and being employed full time, then you know it's easy!
Story
I was in Missouri and went into labor with my second child in this vehicle. We were out and about shopping when my water broke while in the car travelling from store to store!
Pros
My favorite feature of this vehicle is definitely the 6 disc CD changer conveniently located in the arm between the front and passenger seats. I also like how sturdy the car seems overall. It feels like I could do anything and be safe and be ensured that my family is safe as well. It seems like a well-built American machine.
Cons
If you are low on gas and park at an angle with the front angled down then the car most likely will have a hard time starting! I have to either park front angled up or on a flat surface if I'm running low on gas that week. Also, since this is an older model vehicle, the safety features for children's safety seats are VERY limited. I have a rear facing 2 year old girl that I would love to turn around to forward facing but the car has no top tether attachments for her seat! But that's alright, being a certified car seat technician, I'd rather keep her rear facing as long as possible.

I knew when I bought my Explorer it was going to be a gas guzzler, and it is. Not that bad on the open road. It makes up for it by performing well. I've been driving this car in my business for two years now. We clean foreclosed houses that usually have a lot of debris that has to be hauled away.
Story
I live on a dirt road and after a year or so of riding up and down it several times a day things began to rattle loose. My boyfriend attached a chain linked fence to the back, stacked cement blocks on it and pulled it up and down the road to smooth it some.
Pros
I like the room that my car has. I put all of my cleaning supplies, a vacuum, rug shampooer and push mower in back. I like the gauge that tells you how your gas mileage is and how long you have till empty. It has a player in it that holds eight cds. The towing package is great. We have pulled a ton of metal with it easily.
Cons
I don't have much to say that is negative. The trim on one door was always falling off and the stereo wasn't that great.
