I purchased this vehicle used from my regular mechanic, so I knew it was a solid buy. It had a new, replacement transmission, which was a problem for this model year. For a ten year old vehicle, it was very clean with no rust and only minor plastic fading. Since it was pre-owned, it did have some stickers that were not removed. It also had very low miles for it's age, under 80,000 miles. It is roomy, with a third row seat you can fold down for extra storage. It also has the NSX sport package with running boards, 18" alloy wheels, a roof rack, extra trim and a premium sound system. It has a 4'3 liter V6 engine and automatic 4 wheel drive. It came with new tires, suited for on or off road use. They are a little noisy, but no more than a normal truck. It also has some interior noise, to b... (more)
Story
We live on the coast and get very little snow, except for last year. Coming from a colder climate, I put it in 4 wheel high and drove it like a normal winter day from my home state while everyone was stuck inside. I ended up being an impromptu taxi during the snow.
Pros
Fold down 3d row seating, sport trim, auto 4 wheel drive, roomy, alloy wheels, premium sound, roof rack, low miles, tinted windows, air conditioning, 4.3 Liter engine, updated transmission.
Cons
Lower fuel mileage, some interior noise, hard to see when backing up.

This vehicle has been one of my all time favorite vehicles I've owned. It is a midsize SUV, has plenty of room for hauling around what you need while still getting great MPG (usually 25mpg). While many SUVs feel top heavy and unstable during travel, the Ford Explorer Sport is tight and easy to drive. It has a comfortable interior, great get up and go when you need it (6 cylinder) and is always one of the best looking vehicles in the lot! The A/C keeps the vehicle cool all the way to the back and the rear seats lay flat to give even more options for hauling etc.
Story
This is a fun vehicle to drive and comfortable. I was able to load up my daughter, the dog and all our beach gear for a lovely day at the sound. My Ford Explorer just looks so at home here at the beach and can handle the dirt roads and occasional flooding with no problem.
Pros
My favorite features on my Ford is that it is a two-door sport with great pickup. It is practical but fun to drive. Mine has a manual transmission so is even more fun that most! I never worry that it will not perform the way that I need it to, when I need it to. It has a very attractive body and excellent visibility all the way around. I love that it gets 25 mpg! The bucket seats with a hutch between to store items is a great feature and one that gets used.
Cons
This vehicle came with a trailer hitch but the one time I needed to rent a trailer and haul some things I was unable to find anyone that would rent to me because the sport frame is not conducive to towing (too high a center of gravity I believe). The only other con for this vehicle is that while getting into it, some of my shorter friends have a more difficult time. I would make sure to get the running boards next time.

I love my Ford Explorer. There is plenty of room inside the vehicle and it looks very sleek from the outside. I have only had to replace a few parts since I bought the vehicle. I am at approximately 140,000 miles and everything on the frame is still holding together well. It is a very quiet vehicle with a great sound system, so the luxury level is very high. The seats hold up well, and so does the back hatch. It comfortably fits 7-8 people in the car with no complaints. I love the look of the vehicle – it’s not too boxy looking. It gets great gas mileage driving on the freeway, driving on country back roads, and driving in the city. I would definitely recommend buying a Ford Explorer if you are looking for a car or SUV. The seats fold down very easily to convert the vehicle from a 7-8 ... (more)
Story
Going jeeping in the mountains and being able to crawl over big mounds in the road, then sleeping in a tent by the car.
Pros
The gas mileage is a fabulous feature for the Ford Explorer. I live in the country but I drive through busy cities during the day and the gas mileage always stays between 18-22 miles per gallon. I never have to worry about stopping for gas if we take a long road trip somewhere for a vacation or for work because the gas tank is really big. It has great four-wheel drive technology and drives perfectly in the snow, rain, or on dirt roads. I never have to worry about driving through the snow. The vehicle size is pretty compact, so taking our Ford Explorer onto jeeping trails and dirt roads in ... (more)
Cons
If I could change some things about the vehicle, I would give the vehicle a lift. Our Ford Explorer does awesome going up jeeping trails, but because the frame is very low to the ground, we sometimes end up scraping the bottom of the vehicle on rocks, dips, and mounds on dirt roads. The vehicle is extremely lightweight (which is why it gets such great gas mileage), but sometimes I wish it was a little heavier so that when I am driving through snow and ice it would be more stable on the ground. There are a few little things that have gone out on the vehicle that have needed replacing, such ... (more)
