The 2006 Ford Expedition Limited is a solid ride. My kids call it the tank. I have not had any issues with its performance and it is especially nice to have with the large family that I do. It accommodates everybody from my 6 year old to my teenagers. I have driven many miles around town and off road for camping and hunting purposes in conditions ranging from dry to icee. The 4x4 has helped to not get stuck in mud or snow, including snow that was 4+ inches deep. It has been extremely helpful as a scout leader being able to drive a large number of scouts and to be able to tow a trailer of gear to our campouts and other adventures.
Story
I had a great time driving with my boy scouts up a snowy mountain and getting lost. We never got stuck, even in several inches of snow.
Pros
My favorite thing about this vehicle is the built in video player. On long trips, whether with my scouts or kids, it makes the drive a lot easier when the young ones have something to watch. The heated leather seats are great because they can be heated in the winter AND they have an option for cooling in the summer, which is great on really hot or really cold days. The engine has been very dependable with over 120k miles and no major repairs. I love the large interior space for storage and that the rear seats fold down flush without having to remove the third row of seats as I have done ... (more)
Cons
My limited complaints about the vehicle has to start with the leather. It just hasn't held up as I believe leather should. A large split has started in the center of the seat. I am not a fan of the fuel economy. I know SUV's typically have poor economy, but I'm running at about 12MPG, terrible for long trips. My only other complaint is with the DVD system. One time it allowed one of my kids to insert a second DVD while one was already loaded in. This caused me to have to completely dismantle the player in order to get it out.
