1999 Ford Expedition - Reliable SUV with plenty of space for family.
My 1999 Expedition has been reliable the several years I've owned it. It has great space for carrying our family and anything we need to haul. The only downside is that the gas mileage is pretty bad, but that is expected from a vehicle this size. The maintenance required to keep a vehicle running this long has been pretty simple even if there are a few design choices that have made some parts difficult to replace. The ride has always been smooth even when it was having problems.
Story
My family and I were able to tailgate this 4th of July and lay in the open back and watch the fireworks in the distance.
Pros
The best things about this vehicle are it's size and features. It has always performed well and has served us reliably even on long road trips. The three rows of seats and the ability to take out the third row has always been an asset when we need more storage or need a few more seats. This vehicle has always ridden smooth and comfortably.
Cons
The gas mileage on this vehicle is not great, even though that is expected from a large SUV like this. There are also some random electrical issues where the cruise control will stop working or the door locks will randomly not come up either because the motors have worn out because of the electrical issues.
2001 Ford Expedition - I am glad we own the vehicle, but I wish we had shopped around.
