2007 Ford Escape - Review of Ford Escape
My first experience with driving a Ford Escape, was when I had one as a rental car. I am bigger than average, and I fit into it comfortably (huge plus). Plus, I thought the dashboard was laid out well and I was able to find everything easily. So when my car was having problems, I went to the Ford Dealership and purchased a Ford Escape, for less than $16,000 in late 2006. This was so much cheaper than many other cars cost, and it satisfied my needs well. I sometimes have the need to carry things about, and the SUV gives you more storage than most.
I like white, my car is white. The interior is fine, it may be a bit plain but that is OK with me. I have a stick shift which makes the car seem a bit sporty. I have a four cylinder engine, which provides plenty of pickup for me. I wouldn't h... (more)
Story
As mentioned, drove the car on several trips from San Diego to Kansas City. Even with a ton (so to speak) of stuff in the car, it still drove well and was not under powered. I enjoyed greatly the I-70 in Western Colorado, as scenic as could be.
Pros
Car is dependable, low running costs, and fun to drive. The SUV part of the back gives you the ability to haul some things (like a big screen TV), and even save money on delivery costs, sometimes. It has held up well for the first 80,000 miles and I expect it to continue.
It is smaller, but surprisingly comfortable. I have actually driven it 800 miles in a day a number of times, on a trip. And not have had my back hurt, or anything. The gas mileage on the trips approached 30 mpg.
Cons
It can have a rough ride, if the road is rough. The car I have does not have a cruise control. Also, I think it would be expensive to replace the radio/CD with a new one, with Bluetooth, GPS, etc. Which I would like to have, but can live without for now.
2010 Ford Escape - Ten years & 150,000 miles
The 2010 Ford Escape has taken me through six moves, a cross-country road trip, several trips to Vegas, thousands of trips to the grocery store and countless trips for back country hiking trips. It's been 150,000 miles of living.
Story
Transporting a couple large, slobbery dogs that required me folding down the back seat so they could stand and stick their heads out of the moving vehicle.
Pros
The 2010 Ford Escape is deceptively roomy compared to its cute, compact exterior. With a back seat that folds down completely, it gives tons of space to fit more boxes or large items other similar small SUVs with seats that only partial fold down could fit.
Cons
Being on a truck frame, the ride can be a little stiff and noisy.
