2009 Ford Escape - I Love My Truck
I really do. It has enough room for all of my and my son's things. And when we moved last year, the seats folding down enabled us to fit more stuff in a small space. The back seats even pull up to help the seat lay down fully flat. The only con I have is that the AC has problems. First I had to replace the blower motor, then the compressor, then the next year I had to replace the compressor again. This summer went off without a hitch, so I hope my streak continues, but for now, we are awesome. She gets good gas mileage and is fairly easy for maintenance. And Ford updates me regularly of any recall items.
Story
There are a lot of Escapes on the road that look like mine and I stood for about 15 minutes trying to unlock a truck that wasn't mine.
Pros
The truck has lots of space and doesn't feel too cramped. I switched from a Corolla and the truck handles beautifully in comparison. Low costs for repairs are a big plus as well. The paint, despite living in the desert sun, has not begun to chip or fade and the interior, despite being ravaged by a 3 year old, still looks new. Really good gas mileage both in town and on the highway and the engine purrs. Easy to access the rear gate and easy to lock. The truck even runs its own health report and sends an update. I really appreciate the low tire pressure sensor.
Cons
The AC seems to be in constant need of repair. This summer we did alright, but I have owned her 3 years and changed the blower motor and 2 compressors. The maintenance is otherwise not too bad, but wow, those AC repairs add up. The only other con I have is the weight. I live in the land of the sandstorm and the truck isn't heavy enough not to move when the wind hits it. This is especially scary on the highway with 18 wheelers.
