2009 Ford Escape - Solid Automobile
This 2009 Ford Escape XLT is a great SUV for someone that is concerned about gas mileage but still wants the ability to haul items around town. I love that it gets over 20-25 mpg. It was very affordable when bought new in 2009. It has stood the test of time as I have about 160,000 miles on it. It is a little more cheaply built on the interior as the seats can be a tad uncomfortable after long trips. I have taken this vehicle through mountains, woods, and on cross country trips.
Story
Drove 22 straight hours from Houston to Michigan and then 18 hours to Florida in 3 days. The car and I performed beautifully.
Pros
-Affordable
-Great gas mileage for an SUV
-No problems after 160,000 miles
-Easy to self service (oil, coolant, and A/C refill)
-Large trunk space
-On board dash allows for mpg monitoring
-Can pull a trailer even with 4 cylinders
Cons
-Can be loud on the highway
-Has had a few minor recalls on its transmission
-Doesn't have the power of bigger SUV's
2001 Ford Escape - Fun and likable.
This has been a good car to me.
Story
I drove this car on an ice day and went sliding around corners! This car has no traction control, which made it extra fun.
Pros
It offers good power in a small body compared to today's cars which have gotten fat. It's been reliable other than the usual small things and is relatively easy to work on yourself.
Cons
It does have its quirks: the interior is basic, and there's very limited comforts, for example the seats don't adjust at all besides moving forward and back.
