2005 Ford Escape - Needs some TLC, but the 4WD and A/C works great.
I like that my Escape is a 4x4 since I live in a rural area where it snows a lot. I like that the A/C works well and it has a 6 disc changer. The exterior needs some loving aesthetically in both the interior and exterior. Also needs a little mechanical help.
Story
So far our Escape hasn't been through anything crazy. But we'll be tearing up some snow this winter.
Pros
Got a decent price at $4,000. All of the power features work correctly. It's got good tires and the 4x4 will keep us from being snowed in. It's comfortable enough for my 6'3" frame.
Cons
The clear coat is peeling on the hood. Inside, some of the leather door trim has come undone and the leather covering on the center compartment has been torn.
The check engine light was on when we bought the car. Recently it started over heating even though we've only owned it a month. One mirror is a replacement and we didn't know that when we bought it. But it doesn't angle correctly to see oncoming traffic from the driver's side. It also misses occasionally and probably needs new plugs and wires.
2011 Ford Escape - Built Ford Tough!!
I love our F150... it's really roomy, offers functional suicide doors on both sides, 4WD, and a lot of other attractive options. I've owned nothing but Fords, and this truck has proven my belief in the brand yet again. Safe, sturdy, and dependable.
Story
My husband and I spent the weekend going to Pennsylvania to rescue a horse we had saved from slaughter. This truck pulled like a champ and handles the mountains great.
Pros
Definitely the SYNC system. We live in a state where it is a moving violation to use a handheld cell phone and SYNC's Bluetooth capability solves that. All the controls you need are in easy reach on the steering wheel. The smart transmission technology maximizes fuel economy, making it more practical as a daily driver and helping achieve a more consistent MPG.
Cons
It is a truck, so the fuel economy still isn't spectacular. The factory height of the truck also makes it more difficult to open the bed-mounted toolbox if you are a shorter person. Even though it does have a short bed, I find the length still exceeds what most parking places will accommodate.
